Aside from their almost-breakup, Hilaria details many other things about their relationship in her memoir, including how she chose to stand by Alec’s side during his recent brush with the law following the tragic shooting incident on the set of his movie, Rust, which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

To say that Rust has had one of the most troubled productions of any movie in recent history would be a severe understatement.

Production on the film finally concluded in May of 2024 following a bounty of controversy. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died in an on-set incident in which star Alec Baldwin unknowingly fired a live round from a prop gun on set. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer responsible for handling the firearms and ammunition on set, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on April 15, 2024. Baldwin, meanwhile, was indicted on an involuntary manslaughter charge after having two other manslaughter charges dropped against him in April 2023.

After numerous delays and questions of whether or not Rust would ever be released, we finally have our first look at the film. The official trailer was released on March 26 and at long last, a release date has also been set.

The Rust movie trailer, revealed

Written and directed by Joel Souza, Rust centers around an outlaw on the run named Harland Rust, played by Baldwin. When his estranged 13-year-old grandson, Lucas, is sentenced to hang following an accidental killing, Rust comes to his aid and the two plunge into the Kansas wilderness. Pursued by a U.S. marshal and a bounty hunter, Rust and Lucas struggle to survive while grappling with the past and trying to ensure Lucas has a future. As the trailer confirms, this story is a gritty look at how unspeakable violence can forever alter a person’s life.

If you’re wondering why Jensen Ackles is nowhere to be found in the footage, it’s because Rust underwent numerous casting changes following Hutchins’ tragic death. When filming resumed in April 2023 (following the October 2021 incident), several original cast were unable to return due to scheduling conflicts. Ackles, who had filmed scenes prior to the hiatus, was removed and replaced with a new character played by Josh Hopkins. Additionally, Brady Noon, who was initially cast in the role of Lucas, was ultimately replaced by Patrick Scott McDermott. Baldwin was reportedly informed the same day filming resumed that the involuntary manslaughter charges against him were being dropped.

What is the Rust release date?

Rust will be released in select U.S. theaters as well as video on demand on May 2. Per Today, as part of Matthew Hutchins’ wrongful death settlement, he and his son Andros will receive the movie’s profits as opposed to the film’s producers. The U.S. release follows the film’s world premiere in Poland at the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage in Nov. 2024.

Rust will inevitably arrive on streaming following its theatrical run, though it’s too early to tell at this time which streamer will scoop it up. Baldwin, meanwhile, has been busy starring in the TLC reality series The Baldwins, which follows his family as they engage in daily shenanigans. He also participated in the Hulu documentary Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna ⏤ directed by Hutchins’ friend, Rachel Mason ⏤ which explores the events surrounding the Rust incident as well as Hutchins’ life and work.

You really do have to sympathize with Alec Baldwin – being a rich celebrity with a five-bedroom apartment in Manhattan isn’t easy you know. The 66-year-old actor complained about the size of his fancy apartment, prompting eye-rolls and groans from the normal people of the world, some of whom are struggling to even afford food right now. 

Can we get some sympathy for Alec Baldwin please?

The comment comes from the season premiere of The Baldwins, a reality show that nobody asked for, which follows the day-to-day lives of the Baldwin family, (and focuses a bit too much on Alec’s trial for the death of Halyna Hutchins). According to an article from the Independent, in an interview in the first episode, we hear Alec complaining about the lack of space in his penthouse apartment.

“We have a five-bedroom apartment, and we know it’s too small,” the actor says after itting there were “problems with” the 6,000 sq ft apartment. Alec and his wife Hilaria have seven children so if we do the math, that means there are nine people crammed into five bedrooms. Apparently, two children share one bedroom, while Alec’s three sons share another.

The comments are a little out of touch

Sharing bedrooms is not ideal, but let’s face it, given the current economic state of the country Alec isn’t going to be getting much sympathy – his comment comes off a little tone-deaf. If we’re being honest, the whole show is a little tone deaf, given the controversy Baldwin has been embroiled in for the last four years. Anyways, over on X viewers wrote sarcastic messages mocking the A-list actor.

One person simply wrote, “poor guy,” while another sarcastically responded, “Nobody has it worse than celebrities.” Meanwhile, others compared Alec’s comfy apartment to their own living situations. What’s worse is the fact that the family aren’t even there all year round, they spend their summers in a Alec’s seven bedroom, East Hampton farmhouse, (which he is trying to sell).

The response to Baldwin’s TLC reality show has been bad

Perhaps making a reality show revolving around Alec and his family might not have been the best decision so soon after the tragic death of Hutchins. According to an article from the Mirror, the show touches on the actor’s trial numerous times in the first three episodes but the show loses steam once the charges are dropped in that third episode. 

Although not confirmed, many have speculated that The Baldwins show was an attempt at making a quick buck off the back of the tragedy Alec was involved in. ittedly, it’s difficult to see why anyone would realistically be interested in watching Alec, Hilaria, and their seven children living in their “tiny” 6,000 sq ft apartment for any other reason. Let’s face it, they’re not exactly The Osbournes.

If there’s any fictional character who knows the ins and outs of first dates, happy but complex relationships, and tough breakups, it’s Sex and the City‘s Charlotte York. And, as it turns out, Kristin Davis has a lot of juicy romantic stories to share, too.

Davis recently explained on Rob Lowe’s podcast Literally! that she didn’t break up with Alec Baldwin in the 2000s for an “embarrassing” reason. Was it because she was nervous to tell him it was over? Because she liked dating a famous actor? Because she didn’t want to be single? No. It was because Davis liked Baldwin’s house in the Hamptons!

The actress explained that he was “so rich” at that point, and that she loved his Amagansett home, which he bought in 1995 for $1.7 million. She thought, “I don’t wanna break up with this person because I like his house!” and added, “It’s so embarrassing to say that out loud, but it’s true.” Baldwin has a $70 million net worth now, and, when he and Davis dated in the 2000s, he was fresh from starring in big movies like The Hunt for Red October, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Beetlejuice.

People often remain in a relationship because of the “sunk cost fallacy,” or the idea that they’ve invested so much time in it already that they can’t leave. But maybe more people stick around for reasons akin to Davis’.

The actress also dated Aaron Sorkin, but she hasn’t shared any similarly juicy tidbits about that romance. She said they split in 2012 because they were “different people.” Did he have a house in the Hamptons? The Social Network and The West Wing writer doesn’t really strike me as a Hamptons type, but hey, you never know.

Honestly, Davis’ reasoning sounds like a Sex and the City storyline. While Charlotte might have gone back and forth about whether it was fair to keep dating someone for their fancy vacation house, I could see Carrie, Miranda, or Samantha having no problem with it.

Like her Sex and the City character who once said she had “been dating since [she] was 15” and was “exhausted,” Davis has talked a lot about the art and experience of dating over the years. In 2021, she told The Sunday Times that she finds small talk “boring,” explaining, “I’m not not dating but I’m not actively dating.” Since she’s a mom of two, she wants to ensure she starts a relationship with a special person since her partner would become part of their worlds, too.

But wait, I want to hear more about Baldwin’s Hamptons house. After some brief Internet sleuthing, I can confirm it doesn’t disappoint. He’s had a tough time selling it, probably because of the wildly high price point. According to People, it was on the market for $18.995 million in 2024. The 10,000 square foot home has balconies, porches, and a beautiful, massive kitchen. Just one quick glimpse at some photos, and it’s clear why Davis wanted to spend time there.

As of July 2024, no one had bought it yet. Maybe Davis has her eye on the place? That gorgeous living room looks like the perfect place to rewatch Sex and the City… or to watch And Just Like That season 3. And can I be invited, please?

It’s understandable that, at this point, many of us are beyond aggravated at Donald Trump’s actions and words since he took office. However, as profoundly exasperated as we may be at the actual Trump, Alec Baldwin is perceived by many as having taken his frustration a step too far.

Granted, it’s probably not that it’s Trump impersonator Jason Scoop approaching him and bursting his social bubble quite unceremoniously that has Baldwin reacting in a way that no one ought to: by threatening to break the comedian’s neck in half. Instead, it must be what the not-Trump says about the tragic Rust accident, which claimed the life of Ukrainian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and landed the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, in prison to serve a sentence of a year and a half.

It’s easy to watch the video and instinctively take one side while harshly condemning the opposite party. But, before we reach a conclusion and form an opinion, let’s try to unpack this now-viral situation’s many layers.

Was it appropriate or an overreaction?

On Sunday night, Feb. 24, Jason Scoop, dressed and acting like the current POTUS, approached the 66-year-old actor, who was in the process of taking his stuff out of his Uber ride home. At first, Alec Baldwin doesn’t seem too put off. However, and even though we can’t perceive his facial expression, one can feel something shifting in the air – yes, even through the screen – the moment not-Trump tells Baldwin he’ll give him “a total pardon” for “murdering that woman in cold blood.”

Upon perusing different social media platforms and comment sections, it’s clear people online are split on how to feel about the tense encounter’s contentious culmination. Some netizens have voiced their belief that Baldwin’s reaction is justified and even showed a measure of restraint, others think this is yet another sign the actor is indecently hot-tempered, and others still are trying to paint this as a Left versus Right issue and as proof leftists gravitate towards violence.

With the bare facts laid out let’s get into the nitty-gritty of the matter: Celebrities are still human beings whose status does not make it permissible to find them on the street and make them the unwilling participant in a skit where one is reminded of what is likely to have been a deeply scarring event and set of consequences. Sure, we may argue that if Hannah Gutierrez went to prison for her gross on-set negligence, Baldwin, as someone who was a producer and allegedly pulled the trigger even though he claims he did not, should not have gone scot-free.

As tragically preventable as Halyna’s death was, with it not having been sparked by maliciousness, should it mean that the people whose lack of professionalism led to her untimely death be harassed for the rest of their lives? Speaking of families, judging by what Baldwin says in the video, he’s in front of his apartment where his kids are, even though Scoop later alleges in a comment that “his kids were nowhere around.”

Baldwin’s children may not have been on the street, but nothing thus far proves they were not in the apartment overlooking the incident outside. While we do not know whether the Baldwin children were alerted by the exchange, nothing establishes beyond doubt that Baldwin did not have a legitimate concern about his kids overhearing or learning about the interaction. Two things can be true at the same time: Scoop may believe the kids weren’t around and Baldwin may have believed they could be witnessing an ultimately upsetting interaction. And surely, with it being under a spotlight on the internet, it has the potential to once again force unwanted scrutiny upon them.

According to a TMZ interview with Scoop, when the camera stopped rolling, Hilaria Baldwin began chasing after the impersonator “around the block” in high heels. However, at the end of this interview, Scoop hints that getting Mr. Baldwin riled up was the point. The moment Baldwin threatened to “kill him,” the comedian thought, in his own words: “I got GOLD, baby!” And he did, as this kind of clip is blood in the water when posted on social media.

“Not a big fan of harassing people at their homes…no matter who it is. I hate Alec Baldwin, but I definitely don’t like this video,” one Instagram commenter wrote.

In the new TLC reality show starring the Baldwins, Hilaria and Alec discuss how the Rust accident has impacted them and led to a diagnosis of PTSD for the actor. PTSD is a spectrum, and while we do not know every single symptom which resulted in this diagnosis, it is known that the disorder can lead to one feeling extremely on guard and on edge when reminded of the traumatic event. Considering it may be overly complex for the individual with this psychiatric illness to keep a rein in their negative emotions when confronted with such reminders, Baldwin still keeps his tone in check, even if his words could have, ideally, been less combative.

Evidence that came out during the Gutierrez trial painfully showed that, as a lead producer in the film and someone with a hand on the steering wheel of the production process, Baldwin lacked professionalism, judiciousness, and respect for the lower-ranking (which is nearly everyone on set) of the film crew. His insistence on doing things his own arguably hazardous way – considering the props and effects the Western required – deserved severe scrutiny.

If, in this video, Baldwin was bulldozing his way through on-set safety rules in yet another movie, perhaps throwing the bucket of cold water by stating that Halyna “is looking down” – as a reminder of what may happen when there’s a lack of communication and oversight – could be warranted. In this case, it’s not as black and white.

If you’ve ever wondered how the other half lives, well, you don’t have to wonder for long. Social media has made the rich and famous feel more accessible, and when that fails, there’s always reality TV. Now Alec Baldwin‘s reality series The Baldwins is about to premiere on TLC, and there’s a trailer.

Alec’s wife, lifestyle influencer and occasional faux-Spaniard Hilaria Baldwin, sums up the series with one memorable phrase: “Seven children, six animals, two parents. Wild family.” The Baldwins mixes tearful moments with chaotic family scenes. In the trailer, Alec tells his wife “I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and the kids.” He also attempts to stop a kid from urinating in the pool (what parent hasn’t?) and it looks like there are many chaotic family car rides.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard Lee, the TLC president, said the show is about the couple as they “navigate parenthood, marriage and life under the spotlight.” Alec and Hilaria said they “hope viewers will connect with our experiences and the love we share.”

The Baldwins also touches on Alec’s trial for the accidental shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. On the surface, the trailer paints a sweet and lovely picture of a family trying their best to take care of each other. However, it can be tough to sympathize given Alec’s response to the shooting. In Dec. 2021, he said he didn’t feel guilty and “I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is. But I know it’s not me.” Will The Baldwins shed more light on Alec’s response to this undeniable and heartwrenching tragedy? Will he show more comion about it? I want these questions to be answered in these episodes.

One thing is for certain, The Baldwins will be more family-friendly than some of Alec’s work. And there’s no denying that a family with seven kids (and let’s not forget those six animals) is basically made for the medium of reality TV.

One moment in the trailer suggests that this could be more than the average cookie-cutter show. When one of Alec and Hilaria’s kids sees a paparazzi snapping a picture of them, Alec says to ignore him. The problem of paparazzi photographing children is a longstanding issue. Although California ed a law in 2013 that was a step in the right direction, many celebs still deal with this invasion of privacy. It’s not a bad idea for a reality series to at least attempt to discuss it. This scene drives home how scary and unnerving that experience is for a young child, and it’s good to be aware of that.

Sure, reality TV can offer an escape, but it looks like The Baldwins will feature serious moments along with the entertaining antics of these seven kids. Anytime Hilaria has talked about her big family, she’s definitely painted a funny picture, and there’s no doubt those are the main focus. She shared in an interview with Romper that her children bathe twice daily… which sounds exhausting. She said, “They’ll literally just line up. And we go 1, 2, 3, really fast, hair, shampoo in and out. I spray them.”

I’m definitely curious about the logistics of having seven kids (although, of course, when you’re rich and famous, that gives you unlimited resources). All will be revealed when The Baldwins premieres on Feb. 23, 2025 at 10/9c on TLC and can be streamed on Max the following day.

Nearly half a year after a judge dismissed Alec Baldwin‘s involuntary manslaughter case, it has finally been closed.

The charges related to a horrifying accident in which the 30 Rock star shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. Baldwin was starring in the film and also had a role as co-producer.

On Monday, the district attorney’s office in Santa Fe dropped a press release confirming special prosecutor Kari Morrissey would no longer appeal the case’s dismissal. Baldwin’s legal team was quick to respond, releasing a statement in of their client. As per THR, attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said:

“Today’s decision to dismiss the appeal is the final vindication of what Alec Baldwin and his attorneys have said from the beginning — this was an unspeakable tragedy but Alec Baldwin committed no crime…The rule of law remains intact in New Mexico.”

We’ve been down this road before, believing this whole ordeal was finally over. So, is this new development any different? Is Alec Baldwin’s Rust case really over?

Was Alec Baldwin responsible for what happened on the set of Rust?

The trial’s inciting incident occurred on the set of Rust, a western starring and produced by Baldwin. The actor accidentally fired a live round from a prop gun, hitting Hutchins and leading to her death. The shot also injured film director Joel Souza.

The film’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was jailed for involuntary manslaughter, the same charge levied against Baldwin.

While there is no doubt the shooting was an accident, Baldwin still had to face some serious questions about his on-set behavior. As any working actor will confirm, guns are never to be pointed at anybody on set, even if they are props. This oversight is even worse for Baldwin, because as a co-producer he had an even larger duty of care towards the film cast and crew.

Is Alec Baldwin’s Rust case finally over?

In short, yes, Alec Baldwin’s Rust case is finally over. The case was dismissed with prejudice on July 12 of this year, which means that he cannot be tried again for the crime. Now that special prosecutor Morrissey has dropped the appeal, there will be no action taken against the actor. However, many on social media are still arguing that Baldwin must take a portion of the responsibility for the killing.

The reason the case was dropped by the judge was because of the prosecutors’ bizarre behavior. Baldwin’s defense pointed out that the ammo used in the accident was withheld from them, leading Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer to state:

“The late discovery of this evidence has impacted the fundamental fairness of the proceedings. There is no way for the court to right this wrong. The sanction of dismissal is the only warranted remedy.”

She also lambasted Morrissey for failing to fulfill her obligations to Baldwin’s team in discovery and pointed out she had given “inconsistent” testimony regarding the supposedly suppressed evidence. Rust had its world premiere on November 20 of this year.

Daniel Baldwin, the Baldwin brother not known for accidentally fatally shooting a cinematographer, is getting some attention with some out-there allegations about the ongoing Sean “Diddy” Combs case. According to Baldwin, there are “bidding wars” going on regarding tapes in which celebrities appear at Diddy parties.

Baldwin appeared on the PBD Podcast where he dished on numerous topics, including politics, his brother’s shooting, and the juicy Diddy allegations. Diddy, by the way, is facing sex trafficking, racketeering, and traveling for prostitution charges. He’s currently in jail on no bail, despite his lawyers offering $50 million to guarantee he won’t flee.

Baldwin broaches the topic by saying, “Look at Diddy, for instance. He has videos. He has videos of the parties. Now what I’ve heard … from friends that are attorneys – friends of mine, that have represented me before, agents and so on, that there’s a bidding war going on right now.”

The Hawaii Five-O actor continued that these people are “driving that up” because if you want your client to not be involved in the whole fiasco, “here’s the price.”

Baldwin then uses a hypothetical example of a “big, big movie star” named “Tommy X.” What if Tommy X was in “one of those bedrooms with three other men, and he’s happily married to a woman">London Standard. Who’s on that list?

People like Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Beyoncé, Prince William, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Kanye West and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter. The latter has especially caught some heat in the form of a civil suit where a woman claims Diddy and Carter raped her at a Diddy party when she was 13 years old while an unnamed female celebrity watched.

The allegations have gotten so much attention that Carter was compelled to release a statement:  “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”

This is the type of thing that Baldwin is hinting at. He’s saying some specific famous people don’t want to be in the crosshairs of the Diddy scrutiny, and that they’ll do anything, including pay exorbitant amounts of money, not to be.

There will surely be more and more famous people named in the months, and it’ll be interesting to see whether Diddy himself decides to name names, if doing so would help his case. Considering what he’s accused of, it wouldn’t be that surprising if he did.

Alec Baldwin may never live down the tragedy that occurred on the set of Rust in 2021. Despite his good intentions, the actor struck a nerve when talking about American citizens being “very uninformed about reality” and so naturally a certain group of Americans got very upset and brought up the traumatic on-set incident once again. Piers Morgan was there too, but as per usual, he didn’t have anything intelligent to say.

Making an appearance at the Turin Film Festival on Monday, Baldwin touched on political issues and claimed there was “a gap in information for Americans” before going on to say the film industry helps to plug that gap. Baldwin is known for speaking out on political issues and is a Democrat through and through. This obviously makes him a target for the type of Republicans who worship Donald Trump.

Some disgruntled Americans took to X to reopen old wounds regarding the Rust incident, probably because they couldn’t come up with an actual counter argument to what Baldwin had said.

One of Trump’s most vocal ers from across the pond is none other than Piers Morgan. In fact, he’s basically Donald’s lap dog — loyal to a fault and just as intelligent. Morgan pitched in with an insult of his own, like many others, drawing attention to the fact that Baldwin had accidentally caused the death of cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.

Earlier this year the case against the actor was dismissed with prejudice although the prosecutor has appealed the decision so we’ll see how that goes. When news of the incident first broke, alt-right personalities and gun enthusiasts were quick to turn it political, using the death of Hutchins to score some imaginary points against Baldwin. They’re still up to the same old tricks three years on.

Whether Baldwin really is responsible for the death of Halyna Hutchins is neither here nor there, what he’s saying still holds at least some truth to it — more than half the country voted for a convicted felon without doing the required research. The fact that Piers chose to bring up Halyna Hutchins again rather than engage with Alec’s speech tells you all you need to know. 

Morgan was called out by others in the replies to his post, with many quick to defend the actor and chastise the journalist for intentionally leaving out important context.

You have to wonder why Piers even felt the need to interject in the conversation anyway. Yes, we know he loves Trump and all he stands for, but Alec was talking about American citizens and the gap in information — Piers is English and doesn’t even add anything to the conversation with his inane tweet anyways.
