Every episode of Agatha All Along reveals another fascinating piece of the Agatha puzzle. While she features in the Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) episode sparingly, the presence of Kathryn Hahn’s character is felt throughout. 5w6wt

A witch in the era of the Salem Witch Trials, it is no exaggeration to say that Agatha has been around for a long time. Viewers may still have questions about the whereabouts of her son, Nicholas Scratch, but one thing is not up for debate. It certainly seems like Agatha was the inspiration behind Dolly Parton’s landmark banger, “Jolene.” In a blink-and-you-‘ll-miss-it moment, Billy scours the internet to find any clues to his missing brother, landing briefly on a news clipping from the ’70s.

Going by the details Dolly Parton listed in her song, Agatha fits the bill. We can all understand how Agatha can take anyone’s man. According to Billy’s internet search, Jolene was just one of many monikers that Agatha took in her centuries of existence. It also gives credence to what exactly the witch’s many crimes were over the years.

Viewers are given no exact answer as to why Agatha’s mother tried to kill her in the Salem days. Only that she was “born evil.” Billy spots many indicators of this, with Agatha seducing Dolly Parton’s husband on the low end of the spectrum. She also is implied to be responsible for the death of 32 people during the famous Hindenberg crash.

Oh, Jolene.

Only the sole survivor of the Witch’s Road could do such a thing.

Agatha All Along episode 6 offers more juicy details 3l6v6h

Episode 6, “Familiar by Thy Side” answers the questions fans have been waiting half a season for. It finally confirms what many of us figured out, which is that Teen is Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) son. This reveal wasn’t too surprising after the Funko reveal, but what was surprising was the way Billy made his way back into the MCU. Because while Teen is Billy Maximoff, he also isn’t.

The flashback-heavy episode shows how Billy made his way to the Witch’s Road with Agatha as his tutor. When the episode opens, it focuses on the bar mitzvah of William Kaplan. Played by Locke, he enjoys a festive celebration of becoming a man before his life is tragically cut short. William dies in a car accident at the exact moment Wanda’s Hex starts to go haywire. WandaVision viewers will Wanda’s sons Tommy and Billy started to disintegrate but it turns out, the latter’s essence went somewhere else. Billy merges with the dead body of William, becoming an amalgamation of the two — even though this erases the events of Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.

So starts Billiam’s journey to find out who he is. Three years later he finally learns that Agatha was a famous witch and trapped in a spell. Maybe if he releases her and takes her on the Witch’s Road, he can revitalize his other half: Tommy.

Wanda and Vision (Paul Bettany) still have mysterious statuses in the MCU. Wanda appears to be dead but as the Scarlet Witch, there’s probably a way out of that. Viewers haven’t seen Vision since he disappeared in the WandaVision finale. That leaves Tommy who may have the answer to what Billy is missing. With the rest of the coven dead — and Rio (Aubrey Plaza) suspiciously missing, all Billy and Agatha have is each other. The last half of the season is primed to have an even windier journey as the two witches continue their journey down the road.

Think about it.]]>
<![CDATA[

It’s official! Marvel has confirmed that Agatha All Along‘s cryptic “Teen” character was Scarlet Witch’s son, Billy/Wiccan, all along. While that is pretty explosive information in itself for the more casual fans, those who make a point of ing every little tidbit and leak in the world of Agatha had seen this coming a mile away. So now we’re wondering if Marvel was truly ever trying to keep this a secret.

Don’t get us wrong, that jaw-dropping episode 5 ending depended on some curiosity and ignorance from the viewer to truly land, but considering there are still four episodes left, we’re beginning to think this big Wiccan reveal was only the tip of the iceberg regarding what Kevin Feige and Jac Schaeffer have in store for us with Agatha All Along. That could be why they were never that interested in protecting this information in the first place.

For starters, it wasn’t the reveal so much as its context that contributed to the episode’s cliffhanger. Why was everyone acting so weird? Why did the episode feel so short? Why did Billy suddenly unleash all that rage when he was meant to be the noble, kind sidekick? Here is what Marvel fans have been brewing up in their cauldrons.

Billy/Wiccan had second intentions this whole time 4c575y

The sigil, the lack of power, the wide-eyed witchcraft fanboy act… Was it all a cover for Billy? Did he truly only regain his powers once Agatha figured out who he was, thus breaking the sigil, or did he have them all along and use them on the sly to ensure things went according to plan? Has he known he was Scarlet Witch’s son all this time? Did he contribute to Alice’s death? Was Agatha telling the truth when she said she hadn’t intentionally stolen her powers?

Everything was a simulation 2n2p5z

If we assume that Billy knew his identity all along and was only ever using Agatha to get his mother back, his manipulation of the witch could take on all kinds of shapes. Some fans seem to think everything we’ve seen in Agatha since Teen crossed the protagonist’s path in the first episode was a hex-like concoction orchestrated by him and his mind control abilities, mirroring Wanda’s spell on Westview in WandaVision.

The trial in episode 5 was fake 6e116x

Did anyone else think it was a little weird that the trial for the main character happened in the middle of the season? And considering how delicately they have handled Agatha’s past in this show, why be so dismissive of it suddenly? Why rush through her trial when past episodes have been so much more detailed and paced? Some people seem to think this cabin trial is not like the others and that it was either one of Lilia’s visions or a set-up… by the Salem Seven perhaps?

Wanda has been guiding Billy this whole time 29m5e

Maybe Billy isn’t working on his own and has somehow paired up with his mother to get revenge on Agatha for her actions at the end of WandaVision or simply to use the Witches’ Road for a different purpose, say, bringing her family back together. Everyone is desperate to get an update on Wanda’s situation in this show and it truly does feel like we’re closer than ever.

Wiccan’s big reveal in episode 5 has served as a distraction from what was a more poorly written, rushed episode than Agatha All Along has gotten us used to. However, the suspiciousness of that very last sequence has us wondering whether the weirdness was intentional. Just please don’t let this be another Secret Invasion.

I would like to personally extend a note of gratitude to the Marvel Studios casting team who chose Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza for these roles.]]>
<![CDATA[

What a time to be alive. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has two same-gender lead characters with heavy sexual chemistry who actually get to act on it for once. I know that sentence feels crazy to read. It felt crazy to write. And, every week, Agatha All Along feels increasingly crazy to watch.

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been so conditioned to doubt their own eyes, ears, and souls that, even after Rio told Agatha in the first episode of the witchy Disney Plus series that she preferred her “horizontal” and that her heart beat for her (then proceeding to sensually lick the palm of her hand), they were still wary of biting into the pair’s romance. So, when the two nearly kissed and Rio itted to loving Agatha in episode four, people didn’t know how to act. Screaming in disbelief and pinching of the skin abounded.

“I’m going crazy,” one fan commented. “This scene… i… just… THIS SCENE,” another equally flabbergasted viewer expressed. We meant it when we said that it’s hard to verbalize what Agatha and Rio’s relationship really means for LGBTQIA+ MCU fans. And also, they’re just really freaking hot. I mean, have you seen Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza?!

There’s a lengthy history of two characters of the same gender saying the most terribly romantic things to one another in the MCU or exchanging longing looks and sexual innuendo. While some were always clearly only intended to be written as friends from the jump (Steve and Bucky, for instance, who are still the most popular slash ship in the Marvel fandom), others blurred the line to a point where it became hard to discern whether the studio was actively leading fans on.

Carol and Maria from Captain Marvel or Loki and Mobius from Loki were always written like they were holding something back. In The Marvels, it was hinted that Carol and Valkyrie (the latter a canonically, if subtly, queer character in the MCU) dated for a while (still, nothing was ever explicitly confirmed — the two simply held hands), thus tangentially confirming that Carol could have possibly loved Maria beyond the realm of the platonic. In the first season of Loki, the protagonist confirmed he’s been involved with “both” men and women, opening avenues that had previously been closed and lending more credibility to the romantic feelings people were getting from his dynamic with Mobius.

Maybe these signs were only ever meant to be picked up by queer viewers, like a secret language. A nod that they’re seen and that their peers exist within their favorite fictional universe, but with the caveat that this representation couldn’t become fully explicit just yet because the world wasn’t ready. This is a romanticized view of the situation where Disney could be considered to be pushing the boundaries by featuring these kinds of relationships in their billion-dollar franchise. A less optimistic perspective would accuse the company of using this barely-there queerness to lure LGBTQIA+ viewers (and their pink money) without ever actually delivering on their promises.

Whichever side you may lean towards, the fact remains that Agatha and Rio are making history. While they have not actually been physical with one another yet, beyond a sexually charged fight, an incredibly tender hug, and a near-kiss, it’s now impossible to accuse fans of the couple of reading into things that may not be there.

Agatha and Rio are clearly crazy about one another. And we’re crazy about them. The teasing, this time around, doesn’t feel like we’re being made fun of as audiences who would like to see two characters of the same gender be together in the MCU. Instead, it feels more like a well-paced, well-written build-up, that provides just enough release to keep us hooked for future larger doses. Like any great fictional love story should be crafted.

It’s surreal that, in a time where queer representation on screen is continuously expanding, it took Marvel this long to feature a same-gender relationship front and center in an MCU property (the MCU-adjacent Runaways had done so previously). Even so, this feels like a massive win, especially because Hahn and Plaza are bringing everything they’ve got to these parts and this relationship. It doesn’t hurt that they’re drop-dead gorgeous, either, I guess.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for episode 3 of Agatha All Along.

Since his first appearance, the internet has been aflutter with theories about the identity of Joe Locke’s character in Agatha All Along. Named “Teen” because of a sigil that stops witches from learning his identity, he is so far shrouded entirely in mystery.

The Heartstopper star has brought joy and delight to a show already packed with it. Teen makes himself known to Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) when she is still under the mental trap that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) left her in at the end of WandaVision. A prisoner in her own mind for three years, Teen comes along to free her so they can embark down the Witches’ Road. A supernatural quest that grants the traveler whatever they desire (should they survive and make it to the end), the Road is dangerous and full of trials. If Agatha were able to hear who Teen is, perhaps she would understand why he wants to travel down the Road so badly.

As it currently stands, Agatha agrees to shepherd the eager burgeoning witch so she can regain the powers she’s lost and maybe even help him with his goal. The secrecy surrounding Teen has motivated many a Marvel fan to hypothesize who he is and where he comes from, but one fan theory has blown the rest out of the water.

Rumors of Teen’s identity may only be half right in Agatha All Along 3w4ah

The easiest conclusion to jump to is that Teen is Wanda’s son, Billy, AKA Wiccan. In the comics, Wiccan is one of Wanda’s sons who takes after the magical side of the family. Teen has dropped enough hints that this could be the case. After all, he has a dead mother and has itted that something disturbing happened to him at a young age. Could his interest in the dark arts stem from being borne of the Scarlet Witch, who created him out of her grief?

One fan theory says… maybe. Episode 3 raised another interesting possibility: that Teen could also be Nicholas Scratch, the doomed son of Agatha who she allegedly sacrificed to obtain the Darkhold. But one Reddit has arguably the grandest theory of them all: that Teen is not either Billy or Nicholas Scratch, but both.

This fan argues that Teen is Nicholas, who was traded for the Darkhold, but when the book was destroyed, Nicholas returned as Wanda’s son. This argument is extremely convoluted, but then again, so are Marvel comics. The theory adds even more mystique to what Teen is searching for on the Road and raises questions about what he knows and doesn’t know about his own situation. Could he be searching for Wanda, who appeared to have been crushed at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Or does he want to resurrect Tommy, his twin from the Westview reality?

There are many points to consider, and sadly, no answers as of yet. The only thing that is clear is that Marvel doesn’t introduce characters only to just throw them away. Their projects might not all be perfect, but they’re smart enough to know a worthwhile character opportunity when they see one. Nicholas Scratch has to see some character development in some way, and Wiccan’s place in the Young Avengers lineup seems to have too much potential to be squandered.

It’s also entirely possible, of course, that Teen is none of the above. These whimsical and inventive series have a habit of keeping fans on their toes, which means viewers should stay tuned to Agatha All Along every Wednesday to experience what magic has yet to unfold. Who knows ⏤ maybe episode 4 will give us our best look yet at Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal and answer our burning questions about who she really is and what shenanigans she’s really up to.

“Agatha All Along” isn't exactly a carbon copy of the comics.]]>
<![CDATA[

Marvel Studios has free rein to adapt comic characters as it sees fit, and Agatha Harkness is one of those cases. Introduced in WandaVision, the power-hungry witch is a far cry from her comic counterpart.

Contrary to popular belief, Agatha has a more heroic past in Marvel. Generally connected with the Fantastic Four, Agatha was hired as a governess for Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s children. She reveals herself to be a witch and helps them with varying conflicts. But when it comes to her offspring, Agatha All Along seems to be more in line with comic canon.

The first clue occurs in episode 1 of the new Marvel series. Trapped in the fugue state that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) left her in at the end of WandaVision, Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) struggles to endure her new reality in a Mare of Easttown-esque show. The similarities are undeniable, down to Agatha’s trauma over losing a child. In this new reality, Agatha has a room in her house belonging to a child who is obviously no longer there, with a plaque reading Nicholas Scratch. While this could be a sly reference to series like Mare of Easttown and True Detective: Night Country where female detectives need to have dead children, it actually has a deep connection to Marvel comics.

Who is Nicholas Scratch? 3a4i3b

Anyone with significant knowledge of lore or even a cursory understanding of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will recognize the name. Nicholas Scratch is one of the many names for the devil. However, Nicholas Scratch is a character that has been in Marvel canon for some time. Agatha may differ slightly in the comics, but that isn’t necessarily the case for her offspring.

In the comics, Agatha does have a son named Nicholas Scratch whose reputation precedes him. True to his moniker, Nicholas Scratch is a heavy-weight villain in the comics. Nicholas was raised in the secretive magical community of New Salem, Colorado, which was founded by the survivors of the Salem Witch Trials. Agatha would go on to leave the community so she could integrate with the human population, but Nicholas grew into his villainy. He ultimately takes over the leadership of New Salem and turns against his mother, whom he believes to be a traitor against her own kind. He would also go on to sire the Salem Seven, seen at the beginning of Agatha All Along.

The Marvel television series has twisted canonical events but may have plans to make everything come full circle. Nicholas Scratch has yet to make a corporeal appearance in the series — that we know of — but is still likely to have abandonment issues because of his mother’s dealings. Agatha is rumored to have traded her own flesh and blood for the Darkhold, otherwise known as the Book of the Damned. Should Nicholas Scratch make an appearance, we can confidently count on him being none too pleased about his circumstances — if that is indeed the truth of the matter. Agatha All Along has already had many twists, and fans should stay tuned to see what happens next.

WHAT did she say?!]]>
<![CDATA[

It’s been a long time coming. Marvel has officially made Mephisto a part of its live-action cinematic universe after years, nay, decades, of fans asking for the demon lord to make an appearance. We came close with WandaVision, but it was the spin-off to the 2021 show, Agatha All Along, that finally made it happen.

It came out of nowhere like a (hellish) bolt from the blue but Mephisto was, in effect, namedropped in the third episode of Agatha All Along. Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale thought it wise to warn Joe Locke’s Teen about the protagonist’s reputation, telling him Agatha may have sold her baby son, who we know to be named Nicholas Scratch from an Easter Egg-ery scene in the season’s first episode, in exchange for possession of the Darkhold. No one’s heard of him since, though some believe he became an agent of Mephisto.

There it was. A casual mention of one of Marvel Comics’ most feared characters, and one of the MCU’s most anticipated debuts. Will it go anywhere? Probably not. But it still means that Mephisto exists in the canon of Agatha‘s universe, and, therefore, Earth-616. And it was still enough to make viewers a little crazy.

Because of the character’s long history with the Scarlet Witch, many expected Mephisto to show up in WandaVision, but Agatha Harkness ultimately took his place as the show’s big bad. Now, she’s center stage, and the demon lord is back in the conversation. Speculation has tied Aubrey Plaza’s mysterious character Rio Vidal, who holds no ties to anyone in Marvel Comics, to both Mephisto and Agatha’s son. Some believe Nicholas is the two women’s child from a past relationship.

It’s also possible that Jen’s reference to the extra-dimensional demon is just a red herring, a way to throw eager fans off the scent of what really is expecting us at the end of the Witches’ Road. With WandaVision and Agatha All Along sharing a creator in Jac Schaeffer, it wouldn’t surprise us if this Mephisto mention turned out to be nothing more than a bit of fourth-wall breaking to mess with fans’ expectations and poke fun at their incessant speculation during the earlier Disney Plus series. And if that is the case then, well, it worked.

“I know the writers were tired of heating the Mephisto theories so they said ‘here you go, damn’,” one fan joked.

For the lesser versed in comics history, Mephisto is a powerful evil being who’s been around for over five decades, literally playing devil’s advocate in a lot of famous storylines. His end goal is always to corrupt and steal human souls, bringing them to a pocket dimension he calls “Hell” or “Hades,” though he uses the name loosely to trick people into thinking he’s Satan or the Olympian god of the dead. In truth, despite his demonic qualities and his supernatural and magical abilities to manipulate human life, his greatest power is being a master manipulator.

Mephisto is a feared figure in Marvel Comics and an ace Marvel has held out from playing all this time. He was rumored to feature in the Ironheart series after a cast listing tied Sacha Baron Cohen to the character. While we doubt he will show his face around Agatha All Along, the show could very well be setting up his eventual, and much-awaited, introduction to the MCU. If that’s not the case, then, I’m sorry Mrs. Schaeffer, but you’re quite literally playing with fire.

Is this finally happening?]]>
<![CDATA[

So, we’re here again. Marvel has presented us with yet another sexually charged same-sex duo that we don’t quite know how to digest in Rio Vidal and Agatha Harkness. So many times in the past we’ve been cheated out of any proper resolution to palpable queer on-screen chemistry, yet, for one reason or the other, every new time we still hope for a different conclusion. Will Agatha All Along break the spell?

The witchy miniseries has already done more than nearly every other Marvel Cinematic Universe property in the past, except maybe Deadpool & Wolverine and The Eternals, by explicitly declaring Teen as queer. Moreover, Teen — played by Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke and who we’re all convinced is actually Wanda Maximoff’s son Billy aka Wiccan — feels a lot more central to Agatha‘s narrative than its peers were to their respective films. But is Marvel ready to take the next step and give us an explicitly gay romantic storyline involving a title character? (And no, Loki doesn’t count).

At this point, we’re wondering if there is any other possible interpretation to Aubrey Plaza and Kathryn Hahn’s scenes in the first couple of episodes of the new Disney Plus show. The two exchanged suspicious looks and gibes that hint at a shared past, including two mentions of a black heart. “Yes, I do [have a heart.] It’s black. And it beats for you,” Plaza’s Rio ominously (and sensually) stated after a fist fight with Hahn’s Agatha, right before licking her bloody palm.

https://twitter.com/DawFfraw/status/1836765836196843616

Then, Patti LuPone’s Lilia Calderu used a black heart to symbolize the missing piece in Agatha’s coven — a witch possessing Earth Magic, which we know to be Rio, not just because of the callback but because Agatha avoided the subject and found a non-magical person to step in instead. I mean, is there even an heterosexual explanation for all of this?

Fans were very receptive to the scenes between the two, understandably so. The enemies (to lovers, we hope) have chemistry for days. “Just watched the best sex scene of my life,” one fan jokingly expressed. “The sexiest scene in MCU history,” someone else agreed. Mind you, they were fully clothed the entire time, but it did feel like we were watching more than just fighting.

If this was any other party, we’d be carefree and excited about the possible future of these two characters. Don’t get us wrong, we’re still very much looking forward to new episodes of Agatha All Along, but where Rio/Agatha is concerned, after being let down so many times in the past, we’re going for caution over hope.

Plaza may have promised “a gay explosion” by the final episode in an interview with Variety, but we also when Natalia Portman called Thor: Love & Thunder “so gay” only for it to be… not that. Using the promise of gay content to attract queer viewership when the reality turns out to be a throwaway line or a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment is probably among the top 10 commandements of the Disney rulebook, so we won’t let ourselves get too worked up over Plaza’s words just yet.

With that said, Marvel has never been this gay, and, yes, your honor, we’re guilty of eating it up. Now, let’s see what episode 3 has in store for our new favorite baddies, and then we’ll reconvene.

Breakout villain Agatha Harkness seems to be in a bad way, friends.

Nobody here is happy about this. We all love Marvel. Some of us grew up loving it so much that we got comfortable being the weird kids who shouted “Bamf!” when we jumped off the monkey bars and semi-permanently destroyed our hairlines as six-year-olds when we tried to AquaNet our follicles into the same shape as Wolverine’s. There is no joy in Marvel Studios’ recent death spiral, save for the knowledge that the company’s CGI artists might finally be let out of their kennels and allowed to feel grass under their feet again.

All of that said, boy, the MCU sure seems to be in a pickle lately, with the dumbness and the badness and the M.O.D.O.K. bottoms of it all. There was a time when an illusory sense of a larger plan kept audiences showing up for questionably popular characters like Doctor Strange and Ant-Man getting solo shots. Now, even the C-list has been milked with coarse, calloused hands.

And Agatha Harkness—played to campy, cackling, mustache-twirling perfection by Kathryn Hahn in 2021’s WandaVision—is at the receiving end of the bad times. The character’s solo series was part of Marvel’s mid-strike cull on September 1, ing a litany of other MCU offerings being pushed back on the calendar. What made Agatha’s change of schedule stand out in a crowd that includes Echo and What If…? was the unexpected title change that came with the rescheduling announcement. Originally announced as Agatha: House of Harkness before changing to Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the Disney Plus series is now being rebranded as Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. For the time being.

When the only sense of consistency through a two and a half year production process is the fact that the title is kind of alliterative, people are going to talk, and the talk isn’t going to be kind. Prospective fans of the series took to the app formerly known as Twitter (which coincidentally also can’t seem to pick a name and stick to it) to make their feelings known.

Innocuous as it might seem, this third new title for the series has some rough implications. It communicates to exhausted MCU fans that they were right to assume that the studio is flying by the seat of their pants, making gut-based decisions instead of formulating a story ahead of time. It doesn’t help that the new title focuses on the Darkhold, a powerful magical artifact that was destroyed across all universes at the end of Multiverse of Madness. This would suggest that either the Darkhold is back, marking another in a long list of world-shaping changes in the MCU that didn’t have any long-term consequences (which, boy, really makes it hard to keep caring about keeping up with these movies) or that Disney isn’t paying even a little bit of attention.

Some fans have also speculated as to whether the title changes means that key characters could be written out of the show—the most catastrophic of which would be MCU fave Wanda. While that seems highly unlikely, these are strenuous times for studios and actors, and anything could happen.

Whatever’s going on, Marvel’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is now scheduled to premiere late in 2024. Fun fact: If the pattern keeps up, the show will have gone through one and a half new titles by then.

A new rumor suggests the MCU may be getting a new LGBT+ character.]]>
<![CDATA[

Despite the naysayers, Agatha: Coven of Chaos gets more and more intriguing with each report. The series is set to bring back Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, the villainous fan-favorite from WandaVision. Although the MCU has been bristling with problems lately — mostly related to content overload — Coven of Chaos is promising to show off a new side of the MCU, and it’s one that may expand LGBT+ representation in the franchise.

For those that need a refresher, Agatha Harkness was the antagonist of WandaVision. Hahn’s villain fought against the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in order to steal her powerful chaos magic, but was ultimately defeated and left brainwashed in Westview. The character is a powerful witch who’s lived for several centuries. In the comics, the character is a little different, however. She’s still a powerful witch, but her appearance is usually depicted as that of an elderly woman, and she’s not really evil. She actually leans more toward the side of good, and she’s a close friend and teacher of the Scarlet Witch. She also offers nanny services.

Agatha Harkness is set to take center stage in Coven of Chaos, and it sounds like there’s going to be another adaptational change to the character: if rumors are to be believed, the character will be revealed to be bisexual, having formerly been in a relationship with Aubrey Plaza’s antagonistic character.

The reports about this turn for the character are unconfirmed, however. Not much is known about the series just yet; official channels have hardly even mentioned the show, which is set to debut sometime next year. Most of the information out there about the show is actually either rumors, hearsay, or speculation.

If the rumor is true, however, it would be another sign that Marvel is opening up to increased LGBT+ representation in-universe. The MCU has not had many openly LGBT+ characters as yet; of the major, named characters, only Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and Sylvie (Sophie Di Martino) are bi, while Ayo (Florence Kasumba) and Aneka (Michaela Cole) are lesbians, and Korg (Taika Waititi) is gay.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is also set to introduce Joe Locke into the MCU. Though it isn’t officially known who Locke will be playing, rumor has it that he’ll be taking on the mantle of Wiccan — Wanda’s son, Billy (previously played in WandaVision by Nolan Englund), reborn. In the comics, the character is one of the most notable gay characters in Marvel’s line-up.

Patti LuPone has itted to being unfamiliar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite spilling multiple secrets regarding her role in the series Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Earlier this month, LuPone defied the comic book studio’s anti-spoiler apparatus by revealing that the WandaVision spin-off will be a musical, with musical numbers written by Kristen and Bobby Lopez of Frozen fame. While the spoiler-frenzy might indicate that LuPone is well-versed in Marvel happenings, the actress recently confessed to being largely unaware of the studio prior to being cast as Lili Calderu. “I’m still not familiar with it,” LuPone told Entertainment Weekly, “I had to watch WandaVision twice to figure it out.”

The actress shared a similar sentiment in her discussion previously, confessing that she “didn’t know there were witches” in the MCU and “didn’t know anything about the Marvel world.” After some research into the character, she described Lili Calderu as “a 450-year-old Sicilian witch whose power is divination and whose trial is tarot.” The actress went on to reveal that filming of Agatha: Coven of Chaos hadn’t wrapped yet, before hinting at a release date sometime in 2024.

For her part, Hahn provided her own, somewhat vague update about the series earlier this month, saying that “all bets are off”. Alongside LuPone, Hahn, Plaza and Locke, the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos will also include Asif Ali, who portrayed Abilash Tandon/Norm in WandaVision.

In two years, audiences will finally get to see the Fantastic Four the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speculation is rife, hype is high, and now one person speculates two somewhat random characters have a good chance to be featured in the developing project.

The above post on Reddit points out Peter Parker was once a member of the team in the comics in a loosely-defined way and Harkness did serve as a nanny for Reed and Sue’s son Franklin as well as other powerful young people in the source material. While one fan says a reference to Peter’s time with the team would be nice, another wants him to have a bromance with a certain hot heroic guy.

Another adds this would be a bad idea (probably because when the characters have failed on film so many times before, the stakes are high to get it right), and a different perspective argues the future of the franchise should give the family and the X-Men their own distinct focus for a while – no cameos, no crossovers, and you can wall off current characters with exile if you really have to.

The Fantastic Four MCU movie will come out in February 2025. Barring delays, this is nearly 10 years after the characters first made their debut with Fox. We have seen a version of one already in the recent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film, and, while it is unclear if his actor may return, one fan argues Marvel should do all they can to make this a real casting.

MCU fans have dug deep to uncover a surprising way to introduce Doctor Doom and touch on his origin story.]]>
<![CDATA[

Imaginative Marvel fans believe Doctor Doom’s introduction in the MCU may come in an unexpected context: Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

As suggested in the r/MarvelTheories subreddit, Doctor Doom’s mother, Cynthia von Doom, might appear in the Disney Plus series to usher in her son’s arrival.

It’s an exciting idea considering the vital role Doctor Doom’s mother plays in his own story. Cynthia von Doom was a Romani sorceress and freedom fighter in the fictional country of Latveria. She married Werner von Doom, chief sorcerer and leader of the Zefiro tribe, and gave birth to a son called Victor, who later became Doctor Doom.

Cynthia is a complex and fascinating character. She led a resistance against The Baron, an autocratic nobleman who later became King Vladimir. She famously summoned demons and naively made a deal with Mephisto to help liberate her people from The Baron’s oppression. Cynthia dies trying to overthrow The Baron, and double-dealing Mephisto claims her mortal soul. Her son Doctor Doom devotes himself to liberating her from Mephisto’s grip in the afterworld.

It is unclear whether or not Cynthia von Doom will ever appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but it’s still an intriguing idea. The show is a spinoff of WandaVision and tells the story of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Even though the plot is still under wraps, there’s no doubt Cynthia would be a good fit for a show about a fellow witch, even if her personal story is a cautionary tale.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos will premiere in winter 2023 on Disney Plus.
