Are Marvel‘s fantastic four finally about to reunite in the MCU? Wait, no, sorry, not the actual Fantastic Four, but that other family of superheroes who have become firm fan-favorites. Although Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben are about to take their first steps into the franchise this summer, their rivals to the title of the MCU’s most beloved family are well on their way to getting the band back together, thanks to an exciting new casting.

After Agatha All Along, the hype for Disney Plus’ Vision TV series suddenly skyrocketed, and it’s doing so again after Scottish-Italian actor Ruaridh Mollica was announced to have ed the show in an intriguing role. Officially, the 25-year-old is being pegged to play a character called Tucker… But Marvel fans have been down this (witches’) road before, and they think they know what’s what.

Welcome to the MCU, Tucker — or should we say… Tommy Maximoff?

Vision causes hype to speed up by possibly, maybe, probably casting Scarlet Witch’s other son

Image via Disney Plus

Previously in the MCU: In the Agatha All Along finale, Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff/Kaplan/Wiccan managed to resurrect the soul of his twin brother, Tommy, into the body of some poor kid who died during a swimming pool prank gone wrong. At the end of the episode, Wiccan and Ghost Agatha set off in search of Tommy, a plot-thread that promises to be picked up in fellow WandaVision spinoff Vision.

So that’s why the news that Marvel has just cast a promi-and-coming star — fresh off his breakout role in indie darling Sebastian — as a character called “Tucker” is causing fans to request elaboration.

Is that you, Tommy?

You knew someone had to say it.

So, just to prepare you early, in case we’re about to hear a lot from him in the MCU in the years to come, it’s pronounced “Roo-Ray Mollica.” You’re welcome.

But is Mollica really Tommy reborn? Is Billy about to do his best Mufasa impression and declare “My brothaaa!” Well, it is possible he’s really just some kid called Tucker, but so far Vision has only cast the most significant of cast-, so that would be surprising. At present, the curiously eclectic cast includes Paul Bettany (back as White Vision), James Spader (voicing Ultron once more), and Faran Tahir (reprising Raza — you know, the terrorist from Iron Man). Todd Stashwick is also on board in an undisclosed role. As Tommy Shepherd’s father, perhaps?

If Mollica really is our new Tommy then it looks like fans have caught just as quickly as they did when his supposed new superhero sibling, Joe Locke, was first cast in Agatha All Along. At least, if we’re right, Tommy has an actual fake name this time. It was mighty hard for Marvel to convince us Locke wasn’t Billy when his character was literally only known as Teen. We’ve got plenty of time to speculate on Speed’s spontaneous respawning, as Vision isn’t scheduled to get here until 2026.

We just entered a brand new year, but it remains to be seen if Marvel Studios is going to embrace a brave new world or double down on the old habits that have dampened its more recent projects. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be giving us a first taste of 2025 Marvel tomorrow, but one luminous newcomer to the mainline franchise has assured us that, going forward, the studio is wise enough to allow finished stories to stay finished.

Speaking recently to The Wrap, Patti LuPone — the musical theater extraordinaire who played Lilia Calderu in Disney Plus’ Agatha All Along — revealed that the pagan-drenched WandaVision spinoff won’t be returning for a second season, noting how showrunner Jac Schaeffer took the possibility off the table from the jump.

There won’t be one. Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season.’ [Schaffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She said, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.

Say what you will about Agatha All Along (I’ve said plenty myself), but creatives like Schaeffer are precisely the assets that Marvel Studios need to lean on if it wants to garner any sort of real respect from its audiences (which is very different from engagement).

Schaeffer’s WandaVision remains one of the diamonds of the MCU’s television efforts, due in no small part to Schaeffer knowing that its power laid in the specific story it was trying to tell, rather than how efficiently it promised something else down the line. Everyone was so hung up on the lack of a Mephisto reveal, but WandaVision soared because of its intelligent, meta-fictional tackling of grief.

Similarly, the Wiccan reveal in Agatha All Along was nice, but it didn’t come close to topping Schaeffer’s remarkably resonant approach to establishing his queerness — an aspect that’s been core to the character ever since he first turned up in the comics two decades ago.

All of this boils down to Schaeffer understanding that good stories have nothing to do with sensational reveals or any sort of brand presence, and it’s perhaps because of this that her instincts seemed so at odds with what Marvel Studios — who have only gotten more notorious for market-driven storytelling as the years go on — wanted out of Agatha All Along.

Indeed, the two-episode premier held far more narrative power then a fair chunk of the show’s midsection, which regrettably devolved into vibes and set pieces rather than prioritizing a value-driven identity or firming up character arcs and dynamics. The fate suffered by the third act of so many MCU films — in which a massive CGI minion battle is haphazardly inserted into the proceedings — isn’t terribly different.

Mileage may have varied with Agatha All Along, but it’s nearly indisputable that Schaeffer is a boon for Marvel Studios, and if it’s wise enough to rope her back into more projects, it should go the extra mile and write her a blank creative freedom check.

In a world where Trump was elected twice and actual Sims character Elon Musk has millions of fans, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by this, and yet we still kinda are. The numbers have been crunched, the TVA have filed their reports, and we can officially say that Agatha All Along — that critically acclaimed, award-nominated series — is one of Marvel’s least-watched TV shows ever.

Marvel’s move to streaming made a phenomenal splash back in 2021, with its inaugural production WandaVision, in particular, capturing the zeitgeist like perhaps no other. That’s why hopes were high when that series finally got itself a follow-up in the form of Agatha, which belatedly hit Disney Plus last fall. Unfortunately, the much-discussed MCU fatigue was apparently too great for it to fly (on its broomstick) as high as the studio might’ve hoped.

Agatha is officially the second lowest-watched MCU series to date. And, no, against all odds, number one isn’t Secret Invasion.

Agatha All Along is one of Marvel’s worst-performing shows (but, wait, that’s not as bad as it sounds)

Luminate has rolled out the leaderboard for Disney Plus in 2024 and it’s determined that Marvel’s two live-action efforts, Agatha All Along and Echo, were the third and fourth most-watched series on the platform over the past calendar year. You might think that would be a good thing, but the data collection report also notes that the apparently impressive performances of these shows actually pales in comparison to those MCU projects of yesteryear.

Specifically, Agatha accrued 2,284 million minutes watched in 2024 while Echo etched in 1,537 minutes. On paper, that’s not too bad, but things get less applaud-worthy when you that Secret Invasion — the infamous Samuel L. Jackson-starring stinker that is widely agreed to be arguably the nadir of the MCU — managed to come in much closer to the 3 million mark back in 2023.

Although this paints a picture of ever-decreasing interest in Marvel’s streaming efforts, at least the studio has already worked out a way to for this. The fact is that Agatha actually cost a mere fraction of what Secret Invasion did. Infamously, that show broke banks with its exorbitant $225 million budget while Agatha stands as the cheapest MCU show to date with its mere $40 million price tag. Even though it comes lower on the leaderboard than SI, there’s every chance that it actually made more of a profit for Marvel.

Broadly speaking, the same goes for Echo, which is believed to have cost around about the same as Agatha, but its diminished success and troubled post-production period may make it less profitable. That’s probably why there’s still so much talk of an Agatha season 2 and little chance of more Echo. Although the Alaqua Cox vehicle still did its job in setting the stage for this March’s Daredevil: Born Again. That will be the real test when it comes to Marvel’s Disney Plus longevity. If the grand return of Daredevil earns weaker viewing figures than Secret Invasion it’s clear that desperate action needs to be taken.

‘OH SHE KNOWS SOMETHING’: Kathryn Hahn’s Golden Globes comments has Marvel fans expecting some big ‘Agatha All Along’ news https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/marvel/oh-she-knows-something-kathryn-hahns-golden-globes-comments-has-marvel-fans-expecting-some-big-agatha-all-along-news/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/marvel/oh-she-knows-something-kathryn-hahns-golden-globes-comments-has-marvel-fans-expecting-some-big-agatha-all-along-news/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 18:52:24 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1820241 Has the ballad really ended? ]]>

Agatha All Along might’ve come away empty-handed from this weekend’s Golden Globes ceremony, but that doesn’t mean Marvel fans should feel despondent. The fact that the critically acclaimed Disney Plus series earned the nomination that it did offers a big ol’ hint that there’s more on the way from Agatha Harkness and her chaotic coven, and Kathryn Hahn teased the possibility of some exciting news to come on the night itself.

Hahn earned her first ever Golden Globes nomination for her turn as the ambiguously wicked witch, but it’s actually the specific category she was nominated for that fans should pay attention to. The WandaVision spinoff’s star faced stiff competition in the race for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series, and although she lost to Hacks‘ Jean Smart, the fact that Marvel chose to categorize Agatha this way rather than as a Limited Series may be an even bigger win.

One clip of Hahn teasing what this could mean on the event’s red carpet went viral, as Westview warriors suggested the actress knows more than she’s saying. “That is a great question, none of us have any idea,” Hahn said when asked about the chances of more Agatha. “But it certainly is… Our ears are perked up, for sure.” Fans weren’t buying the Parks & Recreation alum pleading the fifth. “OH SHE KNOWS SOMETHING,” read @wandasattorney’s caption.

Does Kathryn Hahn really know something about the future of Agatha?

On the one hand, Hahn may well be speaking the truth when claiming that none of the show’s cast, and probably also crew, know anything about an Agatha All Along season 2. We’re aware all too well that Marvel takes its sweet, sweet time in greenlighting more episodes of its TV series — see the mystery surrounding the fate of Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and others years after they premiered. That said, it’s highly likely that she knows at least something about where Agatha the characters goes next.

AAA ended with a huge status quo change for Ms. Harkness by going so far as to kill her off and then resurrect her as a ghost. It’s clear that the next leg of Agatha’s MCU journey will see her act as a spirit guide to Joe Locke’s Wiccan as he sets about finding his lost twin brother, Tommy/Speed. We’re expecting this to occur in the Vision Quest show, although it should be noted this hails from a different creative team than WV and AAA.

This was such a specific set-up for Agatha that it stands to reason Marvel has some particular plan in place for her, so Hahn has surely been given some heads-up over where she’ll appear next. No doubt she’ll have a cameo in Vision Quest, at the very least, with a role in the much-rumored Scarlet Witch movie also a possibility. In true Agatha style, Hahn may well be telling us the truth while simultaneously holding back the full facts.

Whatever happens, we’re unlikely to see Agatha again this calendar year, as Vision Quest isn’t scheduled to hit streaming until 2026. But, hang on in there, witches and warlocks — just there’s glory at the end.

After the interdimensional doldrums of 2023, a year that delivered two of the least successful MCU movies ever in Ant-Man 3 and The Marvels, Marvel really needed a 12-month stretch as strong as the Hulk to bounce back in 2024. On paper, it did just that, with two critically acclaimed TV shows beloved by fans and a barnstorming $1 billion plus hit in the form of Deadpool & Wolverine.

And yet that doesn’t fully capture the strange and sprawling picture that was Marvel’s past year. Especially once you expand the canvas to encom whatever the hell Sony was doing in the superhero sandbox over the same period. There was much for audiences to love about what the MCU had to offer in 2024, but some of its weirder moments prove that just because Marvel is the House of Ideas that doesn’t mean every idea is a good one.

10) An MCU series drops all at once and everyone promptly forgets it exists

Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez arrives at a pit stop in 'Echo' Season 1 Episode 5.

Be honest, you totally forgot Echo was a thing until right now, didn’t you? It’s OK, so did the rest of us. Despite how meaningful it is to have a Marvel superhero who’s a deaf Indigenous amputee get her own vehicle, Echo came and went like a, well, like its namesake when Marvel unceremoniously dropped all five episodes on Disney Plus in one go back in January 2024. when WandaVision was the most talked-about show on social media for weeks? Fast forward three years and Echo faded from the conversation quicker than it took to watch it.

9) Agatha All Along‘s two biggest twists are spoiled after a single episode

Thankfully, the MCU’s second live-action TV offering of last year managed to make a much bigger impact, as Agatha All Along turned out to be wonderfully witchy Fall viewing (and a perfect prelude to the Wicked-Mania that directly followed it). Tragically, however, although Marvel did its darndest to keep the show’s spoilers under (Joe) lock and key, some errant toy listings went and gave away its two biggest character reveals… after only one episode had aired. OK, so we all knew Teen was Wiccan, but Aubrey Plaza being Death really should’ve been an epic rug-pull moment.

8) Channing Tatum’s Gambit is Deadpool 3‘s best cameo

If we had been told the plot of Deadpool & Wolverine before it came out, we’d never have predicted which of its many multiversal cameos would actually hit the hardest. Wesley Snipes returning as Blade after 20 years? Henry Cavill becoming the only actor not called Hugh Jackman to play Logan? What about Chris Evans cur a storm as Human Torch? Nope, it was actually Channing Tatum as Gambit, finally getting to embody the marble-mouthed mutant after years of failed attempts. Congrats, Channing, you did indeed make a name for yourself here.

7) Kraven the Hunter CGIs Ariana DeBose’s mouth

Speaking of Henry Cavill, we once thought Superman’s erased mustache was the worst crime that could be committed to an actor’s mouth in a superhero movie. Somehow, we were wrong. Out of the endless fountain of failure that was Kraven the Hunter, its most mind-boggling moment must surely be when, in one exposition-heavy scene, Ariana DeBose’s Calypso suddenly develops a condition which causes her mouth to turn into a cartoon. Dialogue getting dubbed in post-production is nothing new, but the brain-breakingly bad way they covered this one up is.

6) The audacity of Venom: The Last Dance‘s post-credits scene

Venom dance

As the filling in the unholy sandwich of Sony’s three Spider-Man spinoff movies released in 2024, Venom: The Last Dance was certainly the best (or, perhaps more accurately, least worst) but that really isn’t saying much. Just take its shockingly shameless post-credits scene, which saw Andy Serkis’ uber-bad Knull promise that he will return, then — in a Deadpool-like fourth-wall break —declare, “And you will watch.” That sums up Sony’s misguided approach to comic book filmmaking in a nutshell — “feed the masses superhero slop and they’ll eat it up if we tell them!” As it turns out, though, we didn’t.

5) A Young Avenger became older than an actual Avenger

Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop in The Marvels

This didn’t actually happen on screen in the MCU, but one notable real-life birthday nonetheless speaks to the aimlessness of the current Multiverse Saga so perfectly that it blows your mind. In December, Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld turned 28 years old. This means that the actress, who has been due to the Young Avengers since 2021, is now officially older than Scarlett Johansson was when she starred in the actual Avengers movie in 2012. Why is it so hard to make the Young Avengers happen, Marvel?!

4) Howard the Duck has a human baby

Lea Thompson's Beverly is caught in bed with Howard the Duck in a still from the 1986 film of the same name.

In 1986, Marvel looked to have nixed its chances at cinematic success with its very first movie in the form of the abysmal Howard the Duck, which disturbed ’80s audiences everywhere by depicting a love story between a talking duck and a human woman. In 2024, Marvel decided it was now too big to fail and elected to take this concept one step further. In the wildest episode of What If…? season 3, Howard the Duck and Kat Denning’s Darcy get hitched and have a kid — who, just to add to the weirdness, grows up to be Natasha Lyonne. Howard the Duck 2 when?

3) X-Men ’97 turns out to be the best Marvel show ever

Cyclops standing tall in X-Men 97

A follow-up to X-Men: The Animated Series 30 years after it premiered might’ve been a dream come true to ’90s kids, but it definitely felt like the nichest project Marvel Studios had ever commissioned when it was first announced. And then we saw it. X-Men ’97 season 1 turned out to be such a note-perfect rendition of the best superhero team in the Marvel universe (sorry, Avengers, but I am one of those aforementioned ’90s kids) that we hardly need the movie reboot. It’s a crying shame the show has since become mired in controversy due to behind-the-scenes upset.

3) Taylor Swift didn’t show up in Deadpool & Wolverine

The other thing about Deadpool & Wolverine that we couldn’t have predicted, besides Channing Tatum stealing the show? That Taylor Swift wouldn’t have the chance to! Even though insiders told us the era-defining songstress wouldn’t be popping up in the threequel beforehand, the intense speculation had reached such “Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home” levels that we were convinced Swift would show as either Lady Deadpool or Dazzler. Clearly, there’s an insatiable hunger to see Taylor in the MCU, and if Marvel isn’t already in talks with her I’d be very much surprised.

2) Just, like, all of Madame Web

Cassie Webb and the girls outside in Madame Web

Kraven was bad, to an insulting degree, but somehow it pales in comparison to its sister film from Sony’s Spider-Man Without Spider-Man Universe. What else can be said about Madame Web that hasn’t already been said before, from its logic-defying denouement to its unexpected allusions to A Goofy Movie. Suffice it to say, Madame Web is the first truly multiversal Marvel movie in that it feels like it has traveled from a universe where filmmakers deliberately make their art as bad as possible, from its screenplay, to Dakota Johnson not knowing what to do with a Pepsi can.

1) Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Doom

The absolute strangest moment in Marvel’s past year, however, surely has to be its most exciting for many a fan — although equally its most controversial. Marvel undoubtedly stole the show at July’s Comic-Con by unveiling its rebooted plans for Avengers 5, with Doctor Doom now at the center of the web… as played by none other than Iron Man himself. Whether this turns out to be a stroke of genius or confirmation that the MCU is now just a giant snake eating its own tail, we’ll have to wait until 2026 to discover. In the meantime, here’s to a saner year for Marvel in 2025!

2024 has been a great year for people who like witches, because it offers a wide variety of wonderful characters. Kathryn Hahn reprised her WandaVision role, Agatha, in her spinoff sequel Agatha All Along, with Ariana Grande taking the role of Glinda the Good in Wicked. And while the characters can’t interact in fiction, in real life, Grande and Hahn gave us the crossover we never knew we needed.

Agatha continued to be as conniving as we’ve experienced in WandaVision, plotting again and finding ways to get her magic back after Wanda entrapped her. However, Hahn gave us so much more than we expected, with brand-new musical numbers, and a series of killer outfits. Meanwhile, the superstar Grande gave us the Glinda of our dreams with her rendition of the Good Witch in the first of the two-part musical adaptation of Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

While canonically, Grande’s Glinda and Hahn’s Agatha won’t be able to interact, we got a glimpse of how powerful the team-up would be in real life.

‘Glinda All Along’ is the sweetest interaction you’ll see today

Both Grande and Hahn attended the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Luncheon on Dec. 17, 2024. The event featured more actors like Pamela Anderson, Adam Brody, and Zoe Saldana, but it was the interaction between Grande and Hahn that stole everyone’s hearts.

Several videos surfaced online showing the two stars meeting and casually chatting. The two women seemed thrilled to meet each other and, in one clip, Grande can be heard telling Kathryn, “I have loved you forever. I love you so much,” as Variety captioned the moment, “two witches walk into a bar.”

“THE DUO I NEEDED,” wrote an ecstatic fan in the comments. “This has been the season of the witch, and we are LIVING for it!!” highlighted another. “this is my multiverse of madness, the crossover of the century, this is the queer media they speak of,” shared a different .

The singer wore a vintage champagne satin gown with a belt at the waist, a 1959 Christian Dior by Yves Saint Laurent, further enhancing her delicate features while pulling her away from the signature pink shades she’d worn for the Wicked tour. Grande paired it with sheer tights and beige Jimmy Choo pumps, accessorizing with Swarovski jewelry and bringing back her ponytail, with elegant light makeup and brown lips.

Hahn, meanwhile, opted for a more casual ensemble, going for an oversized chiffon olive top-inspired pleated blazer with matching pants and gold metallic-pointed heels, her hair falling down in curls. She accessorized with drop earrings, and natural makeup.

Agatha All Along pays tribute to The Wizard of Oz

Agatha All Along is a cinephile’s dream come true, as it pays homage to different cult classic moments and eras. In episode 7, one of the trials down the Witches’ Road turned the remaining witches into Disney characters, with Agatha becoming Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Agatha comments during the episode that The Wizard of Oz drew inspiration for Elphaba from her, which is why the outfit was fitting.

There were many other references to The Wizard of Oz, including Agatha calling the Teen “Toto.” Even the coven of witches can represent The Wizard of Oz counterparts, as Agatha is Dorothy, with the Teen as Toto, Rio the Wicked Witch, Jen the Scarecrow, Alice the Tin Man, and Lilia the Lion, among others.

Now that Grande and Hahn met in real life, it gave us the Glinda-Agatha interaction that was missing.

We’ve been under Agatha Harkness’ spell from the very first moment she sashayed into WandaVision. So, when Agatha All Along, her very own spinoff, dropped earlier this year, fans were glued to Disney Plus to see what mischief Marvel’s cunning witch would conjure up next.

But now that season 1 has come and gone, the big question is: are we getting a season 2? If you’ve been scouring the internet for answers or refreshing your X feed in desperation, you’ve probably come across some polarizing rumors about the witches’ fate. Well, Kathryn Hahn, the queen of sinister smiles herself, isn’t giving too much away either.

What did Kathryn Hahn say about a potential season 2 of Agatha All Along?

In a recent interview with Variety, Kathryn Hahn addressed the swirling rumors with the blend of charm and mystery she’s become known for. While she’d be thrilled to step back into Agatha’s heels and jacket, she revealed that Marvel Studios hasn’t sent her any updates.

We always thought of [Agatha All Along] as a trilogy with the Vision show, but who knows? They run a tight ship over there. I’ve heard nothing.

Hahn’s comments have fans speculating that Marvel might be planning a larger narrative arc involving Agatha and Vision—especially since the latter’s storyline was left wide open after WandaVision. If you’re still holding onto hope, Hahn gave us another nugget during her chat on the Dinner’s on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson podcast. Reflecting on her time filming the first season, she called it an “amazing” experience and shared how much she loved working with the cast. And when Jesse pressed her about season 2, Hahn stayed coy but hinted at a broader Marvel strategy.

No. I mean, I donʼt know. All I’ve heard is that there is a trilogy. Next one would be focused on Vision. That always has been the long game.

With a potential trilogy in the works, this little tidbit might explain why Marvel hasn’t rushed to announce a second season of Agatha All Along. But Agatha is, in fact, part of a much bigger picture. Whatever storylines they’re saving for the sinister witch, the pieces of the puzzle are definitely falling into place.

So, is season 2 happening?

According to recent reports from Production Bulletin, a second season might already be in the works, with production slated to begin in fall 2025 at Trilith Studios in Georgia. Even the series creator, Jac Schaeffer, stated that he hoped that the MCU would have time to unpack Agatha and Rio’s backstory. However, Marvel hasn’t confirmed a second season of Agatha All Along. While reports about production plans sound promising, the studio is notorious for playing its cards close to the chest. Add Kathryn Hahn’s cryptic yet playful remarks to the mix, and we’re left with more questions than answers.

For now, all we can do is rewatch Agatha All Along, soak in Kathryn Hahn’s Emmy-worthy performance, and hope Marvel doesn’t keep us waiting too long. Whether Agatha returns for a second season, a Vision storyline, or something entirely new, let’s cross our fingers and toes that Hahn graces our screens soon enough.

Good news! She’s not dead! Agatha Harkness — everyone’s favorite not-so-wicked witch of 2024 before Elphaba came along — is definitely returning to Disney Plus just as her fans hoped. Agatha All Along was originally envisioned as a one-off miniseries, but the popularity of Kathryn Hahn’s character has led to much speculation that Marvel Studios might be considering stretching out the story into a second season.

Well, the thing is… We still don’t actually have any news on that front, but the next best option has happened instead. Agatha has been confirmed to make an MCU comeback much sooner than we anticipated, and it looks like this unexpected additional project will make use of Agatha’s scene-stealing showmanship better than ever before. Especially as she’ll have one of the franchise’s other biggest egos alongside her as she forms an unlikely double act.

Just when you thought you would have to wait years to see her again, Marvel has confirmed Agatha will be back on our screens before the year is out. The full episode list has been unveiled for What If…? season 3, ahead of its premiere over Christmas, and now we have a peek at what presents are in store for us. Some we already knew to expect — like episode 1, “What if… The Hulk Fought the Mech Avengers">she returns to live-action.

‘My worlds colliding’: The final Eras Tour night gave us the ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Agatha All Along’ crossover we never thought possible https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/celebrities/my-worlds-colliding-the-final-eras-tour-night-gave-us-the-modern-family-and-agatha-all-along-crossover-we-never-thought-possible/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/celebrities/my-worlds-colliding-the-final-eras-tour-night-gave-us-the-modern-family-and-agatha-all-along-crossover-we-never-thought-possible/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 21:26:07 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1807861 Leave it to Taylor Swift to make the most unbelievable crossovers possible.]]>

Taylor Swift is known to bring ordinary people together but she does the same for celebrities. The Eras Tour wrapped over the weekend after a year and a half, 149 shows, and memories to last a lifetime. It also gave us the Modern Family, Agatha All Along, and The Office crossover we didn’t know we needed.

Swift’s Eras Tour has been a magnet for celebrities since it debuted in March 2023. Every show has featured several celebrities of varying magnitudes, whether in the VIP area or the crowd. Be it Travis Kelce showing up to her, the attendance of close friends like Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Gigi Hadid, or frequent collaborators like Jack Antonoff, her concerts became the who’s who of celebrity swifties.

The final Eras Tour show took place in Vancouver and it was as much of a magnet for celebrities as expected. The first night included names like Michael Bublé and Leona Lewis; Chelsea Handler attended Night 2; and the final night featured the TV crossover of our dreams.

The Eras Tour VIP area gave the sitcom crossover of our dreams

Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband, Justin Mikita, were constant in their love for Taylor Swift, attending the final show. The couple was previously at the last dates of the first U.S. leg in 2023, attending the Eras Tour at SoFi Stadium in L.A. on August 3.

This time, though, they also gave the best sitcom crossover: Modern Family meets Parks & Rec meets The Office. The couple hung out with Parks & Rec star Aubrey Plaza, who also stars in Agatha All Along, and Jenna Fischer, who played Pam in The Office.

Plaza was as cool as ever, with a sheer pink shirt, jeans, a red beret, and layers of friendship bracelets. Ferguson and Plaza appeared in the selfie with Fischer, who was there at the concert with her daughter. Fergurson also sneakily shared a picture with Taylor Swift’s successful longtime publicist, Tree Payne.

At their first appearance, Mikita wore a black T-shirt from Swift’s 2012 era with the cover of her Red album, and for the final show, he wore an official Eras Tour merch t-shirt.

The duo have a longtime relationship with Swift and even appeared in her music video for Lover‘s hit “You Need to Calm Down,” where Ciara officiated their marriage in the video.

In December 2020, Ferguson celebrated their friendship with an older picture of the couple and Swift, suggesting that he’s ready to continue their collaborations for a film with an adaptation of her Folklore song, “The Last Great American Dynasty,” alongside Reynolds and Blake. The project, unfortunately, never materialized.

If you’re thinking the last thing we needed was a Friends addition, that almost happened. The Modern Family actor met up with Friends‘ Lisa Kudrow for an episode of his podcast, Dinners on Me. Kudrow is currently promoting her latest Netflix series, No Good Deed, and marked the end of the most perfect sitcom crossover of all time. While Kudrow didn’t attend the Eras Tour with the rest of the sitcom stars, she shared the stage with Swift in 2015 for a magical rendition of Phoebe’s “Smelly Cat” during the 1989 World Tour.

‘A very life-altering, deep experience’: Guys, the MCU star who said goodbye in ‘Agatha All Along’ hopes to come back after all https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/a-very-life-altering-deep-experience-guys-the-mcu-star-who-said-goodbye-in-agatha-all-along-hopes-to-come-back-after-all/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/a-very-life-altering-deep-experience-guys-the-mcu-star-who-said-goodbye-in-agatha-all-along-hopes-to-come-back-after-all/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 00:39:14 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1807372 “This can't be the end. Agatha All Along was one of the best series that the MCU has produced in a long time, and naturally, fans are hoping to see some of its core cast come back. Worry not, one of the most important players in the MCU series has confirmed their desire to return.

In Agatha All Along, we once again got to see Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness after her MCU debut during WandaVision. As the name suggests, this was Agatha’s show, and it gave us a satisfying look into her past, present, and even future within the greater Marvel universe.

During a recent interview, the actress said that the season finale of Agatha All Along was a satisfying way to say goodbye to her character, which had some MCU diehards panicking that it would be the last we see of her on-screen despite the cliffhanger conclusion. Fortunately, the star has confirmed with Deadline that yes, she has hopes to come back.

“I think I meant that we were very satisfied by the way that Agatha All Along ended the arc of that story being told there. I think everyone would be thrilled to come back, of course, in any capacity. It was a very life-altering, deep experience in Atlanta, Georgia, with just this very small cast on the soundstage, day after day after day.”

While it’s great to have confirmation that the road may not be over for Agatha yet, it shouldn’t really be any major surprise, since the finale of Agatha All Along had its titular star and Wiccan setting out on a new mission, which will more than likely be picked up on in a future MCU project.

In a time where superhero fatigue seems to have set in, Agatha All Along still managed to perform exceptionally well, landing both an audience and critic rating in the 80% range on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s nothing to scoff at. For perspective, the prior MCU show, Echo, only managed to get a 60% audience score, with critics favoring the series slightly more.

Where Agatha shows up again is anybody’s guess at this stage. Realistically, it will most likely be in another MCU show, perhaps even a second season of Agatha All Along. However, given the scope of the MCU, it’s always possible she could appear in an Avengers team-up, though that seems less likely as her story remains smaller scale than the threat that the universe’s greatest defenders typically tackle.

While a lot of new characters were seemingly killed during Agatha All Along, there were two others who ed Agatha in surviving the action. Those are Joe Locke’s Wiccan, and Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale. Hopefully, wherever we see Agatha next, we’ll also get to see these two incredible stars back as well.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to see this most recent MCU show, you can stream all episodes on Disney Plus right now.

‘Agatha All Along’ shuts up the haters for good with its latest honor that proves it’s among the MCU’s best https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/marvel/agatha-all-along-just-made-mcu-history-by-receiving-an-honor-marvel-never-has-before/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/marvel/agatha-all-along-just-made-mcu-history-by-receiving-an-honor-marvel-never-has-before/#respond Mon, 09 Dec 2024 15:08:08 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1806972 Everybody say "thank you, Kathryn Hahn!" ]]>

Agatha All Along won’t be as good as WandaVision, they said. It’ll be a flop, they said. Well, look at it now! The witchy-themed WandaVision spinoff had a lot stacked against it when it premiered on Disney Plus this past spooky season, but it managed to fly (on its broomstick) beyond its initially lukewarm critical and streaming success to be crowned a true fan-favorite. Now it’s officially one of the MCU’s most notable projects ever, thanks to its record-breaking new accolade.

Despite — or maybe because of — its unparalleled global popularity, the MCU hasn’t usually been an awards magnet, but now and again there’s a Marvel movie or show that makes such a splash the major awards bodies have to sit up and take notice. See Black Panther landing a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars and WandaVision‘s multiple Emmy noms. Speaking of, Wanda and Vision need to make room as Agatha Harkness has now ed them in a very exclusive club.

The full nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes are in, and for the third year in a row Marvel Studios has received at least one nomination. Congratulations to our favorite wicked witch Kathryn Hahn for landing a seat at the table for the Best Female Performance in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy category.

With Hahn up against such heavyweights as Jean Smart (Hacks), Quinta Brunson (Abbot Elementary), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), a win is by no means in the bag. Even so, in this case it really is an honor just to be nominated as this ups Marvel’s acting Golden Globe noms by a whole 25%. Hahn is only the fourth MCU star to gain recognition at the Globes in its entire history.

Although this is the MCU’s 10th Globes nomination overall, it is only the third to be handed to one of its TV series. Unsurprisingly, it was Black Panther that broke through first of all, landing three noms for Best Motion Picture — Drama, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song in 2019. Fast forward to 2022 and sequel Wakanda Forever landed another Best Original Song nod, alongside Angela Bassett actually winning for Best ing Actress — Motion Picture. That same year, both Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany received Best Actress and Best Actor in a Miniseries nods.

In 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 then cropped up in the newly minted Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. This feat has been repeated again this year, with Deadpool & Wolverine likewise finding itself among the category’s nominees. So that makes two Golden Globes nominations for Marvel going into 2025 and seven in three years. Not too shabby for a franchise that couldn’t even scrounge up a single nom for its first decade.

Whether Hahn pulls a Bassett and wins or not, by achieving this accolade she’s already proven the Ballad of the Witches Road right — there really was glory at the end. With any luck, this will help convince Marvel to make good on all those rumors of a second season being in the works.

Uh oh: ‘Agatha All Along’ and ‘Superkitties’ have been taken out by a shapeshifting killer on streaming https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/tv/uh-oh-agatha-all-along-and-superkitties-have-been-taken-out-by-a-shapeshifting-killer-on-streaming/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/tv/uh-oh-agatha-all-along-and-superkitties-have-been-taken-out-by-a-shapeshifting-killer-on-streaming/#respond Fri, 22 Nov 2024 12:20:46 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1798104 Not even dark magic is enough to overcome Peacock's latest assassin.]]>

The arrival of a new, sleek spy thriller is dominating streaming, and we’re only seven episodes in. Agatha All Along and Superkitties have been enjoying their time in the spotlight, but The Day of the Jackal, a British favorite, based on an old classic, is now claiming its rightful spot as the temporary King of streaming.

Agatha All Along and Superkitties dethroned

As per the latest top 10 charts from FlixPatrol, The Day of the Jackal is now the top streaming show. The political thriller now sits comfortably on top of the chart, lording over shows like The Old Man, Tell Me Lies, Agatha All Along, and Superkitties.

Agatha All Along dominated the charts on Disney Plus for its nine-episode run. The latest MCU series was the sequel to the MCU’s first TV show, WandaVision, and did not disappoint fans. Both the premier and two-part finale saw record-breaking viewership numbers, which ultimately kept the show at the number one spot for consecutive weeks.

Superkitties, while not always at the top of the chart, is a sleeper hit to most. The popular children’s show can often be seen on top 10 lists like these because it’s just so addictive. It follows a group of super-powered cats who live at a children’s playground and use their powers to save the city when needed. The show is popular among both kids and grown-ups, which has contributed to its longevity on the charts. The second season of the show, titled Superkitties: Su-Purr Charged, was released on Disney Plus in April this year and is still going strong.

The Day of the Jackal comes out guns blazing!

The Day of the Jackal is a political spy thriller starring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch. Based on the 1971 novel of the same name by Frederick Forsyth, it follows a notoriously ruthless international assassin codenamed The Jackal, known for his uncanny ability to disguise himself and legendary sniper skills, and a British intelligence officer determined to catch him. Redmayne plays the cold and meticulous assassin, while Lynch plays the determined M16 firearms expert, Bianca Pullman, who grows interested in his case after he pulls off an impossible shot.

While the 1971 novel and subsequent 1973 film adaptation both revolved around the political climate of the time, this version, written and created by Ronan Bennett, has been modernized. The original version centered on the French paramilitary organization, the OAS, and the Jackal’s mission was to assassinate the president of , Charles de Gaulle. In this version, the Jackal is more fleshed out, shown carrying out more missions worldwide, and even has a secret family. All of this serves to humanize him and adds more tension to the cat-and-mouse game between him and Lynch’s Agent Pullman as the stakes are much higher.

The first half of the show has only been out for two weeks, but the response has been largely positive from both audiences and critics, so it’s no surprise that it’s topping the Disney Plus charts.
