The worst hygiene score in the county!]]>
<![CDATA[

If you visit a Trump Golf Club, consider skipping dinner. Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster was visited by health inspectors on May 6, and they found a truly disgusting kitchen. Their report gave the club’s kitchen a rock-bottom 32 out of 100 score, the lowest of 115 food establishments in Somerset County. 22695q

Among the most serious issues were that the kitchen wasn’t in compliance with all three food contamination requirements, with inspectors noting expired milk, raw meat stored above cheese, a dishwasher that didn’t get hot enough to clean plates properly, and that food surfaces weren’t properly cleaned and sanitized.

Employees also don’t appear to have clean hands, with the report noting that the sinks didn’t have soap or paper towels, that a handwashing facility was being used to store a sanitizer bucket, and that there was inadequate signage. They also identified problems with the cleanliness of toilet facilities, and garbage disposal. Their conclusion: “TCC many critical and non-critical violations found at time of inspection. PIC fails to demonstrate knowledge of food safety”.

Food cross-contamination is a serious problem, being the single most common cause of food poisoning. Consequences can be as serious as E.coli infections, Salmonella and Listeria are generally spread this way, resulting in stomach cramps, crippling diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. In serious cases, you can end up in the hospital, and it’s very possible that food poisoning can kill you.

Kinda sus 2857s

Forbes published an article highlighting this report yesterday and, in an eyebrow-raising twist, an inspector re-inspected Trump’s golf club mere hours later. On this hurried re-inspection, the kitchen was quickly regarded to be a “B” with a score of 86, which it’s pointed out is “the lowest score possible to still receive that grade”.

A Trump golf club kitchen getting a terrible food inspection report is probably low on Donald Trump’s presidential priority list, so we doubt he was personally yelling down the Oval Office phone to the Somerset County Department of Health. However, what’s far more likely is some stressed golf club manager calling the inspectors and arguing that if they don’t re-inspect Trump’s club today, their careers as health inspectors may come to an abrupt end.

All of which is to say, if you’re enjoying a round of golf in Bedminster, maybe skip the kitchen and just stop off at McDonald’s on the way home. At least you can be fairly sure their kitchens will be clean.

Well-established legal precedent.]]>
<![CDATA[

Republican U.S. Representative Nancy Mace from South Carolina has sparked controversy with her recent social media post claiming that “Due process is for citizens,” suggesting that constitutional protections are limited to American citizens only.

The statement, which appeared to be part of a series of provocative social media posts, has been contradicted by established legal precedents and recent Supreme Court decisions that affirm due process rights extend beyond citizenship status.

According to MSNBC, the Republican-majority Supreme Court has recently reinforced this principle, citing previous precedent that states, “It is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in the context of removal proceedings.” This direct contradiction to Mace’s claim highlights the broader scope of constitutional protections.

The Trump istration’s ongoing misinterpretation of due process rights raises concerns 4g1th

This isn’t the first time that misinterpretations of due process rights have emerged from conservative political figures. Previously, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller made similar suggestions about constitutional protections being limited to citizens, demonstrating a pattern of misunderstanding within certain political circles.

The constitutional amendments that guarantee due process rights specifically use the term “person[s]” rather than “citizens,” intentionally encoming a broader category of individuals. This distinction is crucial in understanding the scope of constitutional protections in the United States.

Legal experts point out that while citizens are indeed entitled to due process, these protections are not exclusively reserved for citizens. The Constitution’s careful wording ensures these fundamental rights extend to all persons within U.S. jurisdiction.

The ongoing debate over due process rights reflects a larger discussion about constitutional interpretations and their application to non-citizens. Despite claims to the contrary, both historical precedent and current judicial understanding maintain that basic constitutional protections, including due process, apply to all persons regardless of their citizenship status.

Conspiracy theorist gets unprecedented access.]]>
<![CDATA[

Laura Loomer, a right-wing activist and self-described “pro-white nationalism” er, continues to gain unprecedented access to high-level White House meetings, most recently sitting down with Vice President JD Vance in a private discussion at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The meeting, first reported by CNN and later confirmed by NBC News through two sources familiar with the matter, was acknowledged by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing, though specific details of the discussion were not disclosed.

According to MSNBC, in early April, Loomer’s influence became particularly evident during a dramatic Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump. Sitting across from the president with a stack of papers, she presented accusations about “disloyal” National Security Council . “Fire them,” Trump instructed then-national security adviser Michael Waltz, who had arrived late to witness Loomer criticizing his staff.

Growing influence raises concerns about fringe elements in mainstream politics 412o1i

Loomer, a failed Republican congressional candidate, has established herself as a controversial figure in political circles, known for promoting conspiracy theories, including claims that deadly school shootings were staged and that the September 11 attacks were “an inside job.”

Her recent track record of influence includes reportedly playing a role in derailing Dr. Janette Nesheiwat’s surgeon general nomination and contributing to Michael Waltz’s removal from his national security adviser position. She was also allegedly involved in the dismissal of a U.S. attorney in California.

The situation marks a significant departure from Trump’s first term, when White House officials actively worked to keep fringe voices away from the president. According to The New York Times, these officials spent considerable time “blocking off people they described as ‘the crazies.'” The current istration appears to have taken a different approach to such gatekeeping.

Most notably, Loomer’s involvement in the April shake-up of the National Security Council and the National Security Agency’s leadership showcases her growing influence. The president’s decision to remove several of these crucial security bodies came directly after his meeting with Loomer, who later claimed credit for these personnel changes.

The continued access granted to Loomer represents a significant shift in White House operations, effectively blurring the traditional boundaries between mainstream political discourse and fringe elements. This development has drawn attention from political observers who note that while both major political parties have their extreme elements, only one is currently offering such direct access and influence to figures previously considered outside the mainstream.

One Big Beautiful Disaster]]>
<![CDATA[

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has released a revised analysis of the House Republicans‘ domestic policy package, revealing more concerning implications than initially projected. The new analysis comes nearly two weeks after the bill narrowly ed the lower chamber before Memorial Day weekend.

According to MSNBC, the Republican-led legislation, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” underwent multiple revisions during late-night sessions in response to private backroom negotiations. These continuous changes made it challenging for the CBO to provide accurate initial assessments of the bill’s impact.

The non-partisan budget office’s updated analysis shows the bill would add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, an increase from the previous estimate of $2.3 trillion. Additionally, approximately 10.9 million Americans would lose their healthcare coverage due to Medicaid cuts and changes to the Affordable Care Act, suring earlier projections.

Republican lawmakers pushed forward without a CBO analysis despite the implications 165k1v

In a move reminiscent of their 2017 approach to tax legislation, Republican officials proceeded with the vote without waiting for a comprehensive CBO analysis of their reconciliation package. This decision reflects a deliberate choice to advance the legislation without a full understanding of its financial and practical implications.

Congressional Democrats, however, requested the CBO to examine the House Republicans’ proposal in detail. The resulting analysis revealed no positive outcomes for GOP officials, particularly regarding the bill’s impact on healthcare coverage and national debt.

The legislation specifically targets resources for lower-income Americans, with the CBO highlighting significant reductions in for the nation’s poorest populations. These cuts, combined with modifications to the Affordable Care Act, would result in substantial healthcare coverage losses.

The bill now faces consideration in the Republican-controlled Senate, where significant modifications are expected. The latest CBO findings may influence Senate deliberations, as lawmakers grapple with the broader implications of the proposed legislation for both national debt and healthcare accessibility.

A little girl isn't going to be sent to her death.]]>
<![CDATA[

A four-year-old Mexican girl with short bowel syndrome, a dangerous condition that makes it hard for her body to absorb nutrients, has been given permission to stay in the United States for medical treatment she cannot get in Mexico. This decision came after a time of great worry and public attention when the family was suddenly told they had to leave the country.

The girl, referred to only by her initials S.G.V., and her mother, Deysi Vargas, came to the United States in July 2023 using the CBP One app. They were allowed to stay temporarily under humanitarian parole, which allowed them to live in the U.S. legally for a limited time. S.G.V. needs daily nutrients delivered through an IV, carried in a special backpack, to stay alive. This treatment is not available in Mexico, where her poor health had kept her mostly in a hospital before coming to the U.S. per AP News.

In April 2025, the family got a notice from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) saying their parole and work permission were canceled. The notice ordered them to leave the U.S. right away and warned that they could face legal trouble if they did not, according to NBC. This sudden decision put the girl’s life at risk because she relies on medical care that only exists in the United States. The family’s lawyers at Public Counsel quickly spoke out, saying deportation could be deadly for the child.

The cancellation of the family’s parole happened around the same time as a change in political leadership. The new istration had been working to undo policies from the past istration that allowed some migrants to stay in the U.S. temporarily. This policy shift made it much harder for the family to remain legally.

After getting the DHS notice, the family held a press conference to explain how deportation would threaten the child’s life. The case gained a lot of public attention, leading to protests and pressure on officials. At first, DHS said the family was not being actively deported and that an earlier application was still being reviewed, but the girl’s urgent medical needs remained the biggest concern.

The family’s lawyers said the parole was taken away without any warning, unlike in the past when such issues could be fixed with simpler steps. They pointed out flaws in the immigration system, saying it took a huge public and political effort to reverse the deportation order, unless a judge stepped in. The case shows how important it is for the federal immigration system to communicate better and be more transparent.

After weeks of fear and uncertainty, DHS gave S.G.V. and her mother a one-year extension of humanitarian parole on June 3, 2025. This lets the girl keep getting her lifesaving treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she has gotten much healthier since arriving in the U.S.

Before, she was stuck in a Mexican hospital, but now she can do normal things like other kids. While she may not need this intense medical care forever, she still depends on it to survive right now. Even though the immediate danger is over, the family’s long-term future in the U.S. is still unclear after the one-year parole ends.

DOGE bites democracy.]]>
<![CDATA[

The White House has officially sent Congress a request to eliminate $9.4 billion in current funding for public broadcasting and foreign aid, marking a significant test of Republican for the istration’s agency funding cuts. The request includes $8.3 billion in foreign aid cuts and $1.1 billion from public broadcasting, affecting National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service.

According to Politico, the rescissions memo, delivered Tuesday to Capitol Hill, also targets funding across multiple State Department s, including UN peacekeeping contributions, $900 million in global health programs, and $800 million for migration and refugee assistance. Congress now has 45 days to either approve or reject the istration’s recommendation.

White House budget director Russ Vought has escalated the istration’s stance on funding cuts, stating that “we intend to use all of these tools.” He suggested that the istration might not need congressional approval to block certain funding, citing executive tools and historical presidential abilities to spend below the ceiling.

White House signals potential use of pocket rescission tactic 4e4g6n

The Trump istration has indicated it might employ a controversial “pocket rescission” strategy to make DOGE cuts permanent, regardless of congressional approval. This approach would involve sending additional rescission requests near the fiscal year’s end and potentially withholding funds until they expire on September 30.

The move has sparked concern among lawmakers, particularly Democrats. Senate’s top Democratic appropriator, Patty Murray, pointed out that Trump’s rescission request actually acknowledges Congress’s constitutional authority over funding decisions, making the istration’s subsequent threats particularly noteworthy.

While Speaker Mike Johnson has committed to swift action on the package in the House, the request faces uncertainty in the Senate. Despite requiring only a simple majority, similar attempts have failed before, as evidenced by the defeat of Trump’s $15 billion rescission request in 2018.

Republican reactions have been mixed, with some senators like John Cornyn ing more frequent rescission requests, while others express concerns about specific cuts. Senator Mike Rounds has raised questions about the impact on public broadcasting, particularly regarding native American tribes and rural areas that depend on public radio stations and emergency broadcasting systems.

Republican allies close to the White House are expressing frustration with Elon Musk’s opposition to their legislative priority, claiming the tech billionaire’s stance is driven by his business interests. The criticism comes after Musk spent Tuesday afternoon attacking the spending bill and threatening retaliation against its ers.

According to Politico, the House-ed megabill, which represents the president’s primary legislative priority in Congress, has exposed ongoing divisions within the coalition that helped Trump secure the White House. The disagreement highlights tensions between the MAGA and Tech Right factions, with some potentially facing pressure from Musk if they the bill.

“The West Wing is perplexed, unenthused, and disappointed” with Musk, according to a White House official speaking anonymously about the former special government employee who had invested heavily in their istration. Musk had recently left his White House position to focus on his struggling business empire.

Tesla stands to lose billions in tax credits if the megabill es 61424h

The legislation would eliminate several tax credits that currently benefit Tesla, including a $7,500 federal tax credit for new electric vehicles, a $4,000 credit for used EVs, and a $1,000 credit for Level 2 charger installation. Additionally, the bill would implement a $250 yearly federal registration fee exclusively for EV owners.

Tesla’s financial stability could be significantly impacted if the bill es in its current form. The company’s $11.4 billion in regulatory credits, which contributed to its profitability in the first quarter of this year, would expire at the end of 2025.

White House allies are urging journalists to scrutinize Musk and Tesla’s claims about the megabill more carefully. A Republican close to the White House emphasized that when businessmen criticize legislation, their business interests should be examined rather than taking their statements at face value.

The tension between Musk and the White House was further complicated by his recent unsuccessful attempt to convince Republicans to maintain the electric vehicle tax credit in the megabill. Additionally, the istration had rejected his proposal to integrate his Starlink satellites into the nation’s air traffic control system. The situation was exacerbated by Musk’s reluctance to leave his position as a special government employee despite reaching his 130-day limit, though his eventual departure was viewed by many Trump advisers as inevitable.

Told ya so, Elon.]]>
<![CDATA[

On June 3, 2025, Elon Musk seemed to rip into the GOP for allegedly splurging on luxury hotels in Ukraine. His caption? A dramatic, populist mic drop, seeming to reference the 2026 midterm elections: “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”

With nearly 30 million views and counting, this wasn’t your average keyboard tantrum. As one comment said, “I don’t think he’s bluffing.” Was this the world’s richest man and self-appointed referee of the culture wars, telling the MAGA GOP: I’m not mad—I’m just done? Musk’s apparent about-face could come too late, because as he seems to realize, the damage is already done.

From tech bro to Trump bro to… whatever this is f3b4v

For those keeping, Musk’s political journey has been nothing short of whiplash-inducing. He went from progressive-adjacent innovator to free-speech absolutist, to MAGA-sympathetic billionaire—all in under five years.

In 2022, he famously unbanned Donald Trump from X, expressed for Republican candidates, and made “woke mind virus” a household phrase among his fanbase. But recently? The bromance with Trump has imploded harder than a poorly manufactured Cybertruck.

Appointed in January 2025 by Trump, Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with the mission to reduce government waste. During his tenure, he claimed to have saved $175 billion in taxpayer money through aggressive cost-cutting measures, including federal layoffs and contract cancellations. However, his methods drew criticism and skepticism from various quarters.

Musk resigned from DOGE shortly before he publicly criticized the GOP’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” labeling it a “disgusting abomination” due to its excessive spending. In another X post, he warned that the bill would escalate the federal deficit to $2.5 trillion, burdening Americans with unsustainable debt.

That break-up post practically screamed, “It’s not me, it’s you. Also, you’re gross.” Now, Musk’s new message is clear: nobody’s safe in 2026.

The fire-all politicians tour begins 5x5e59

Now, instead of defending his former political flame, Musk hit retweet and launched what sounds like a one-man political purge. The line “we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people” is dripping with MAGA-like fury, but oddly, it’s now seemingly against MAGA politicians.

Musk’s recent actions and statements reflect a significant shift in his political stance, moving away from previous for the GOP. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, his influence and potential endorsements could play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape.

Musk’s recent X post is vague enough to keep everyone guessing: Is Musk launching a new political party? Will he bankroll outsider candidates? Or is this just another billionaire keyboard crusade destined to fizzle out? One thing’s for sure: he’s mad, he’s rich, and he has Wi-Fi. But after Musk ed Trump in 2024, maybe we should stop listening?

Even more ICE arrests, even if the government can't afford it.]]>
<![CDATA[

The Trump istration’s stronger efforts to enforce immigration laws are facing major resistance from Congress. This pushback is driven by the White House’s demand for a huge increase in arrests by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and worries that the agency might be spending too much money. The istration’s frustration with ICE’s performance recently led to changes in the agency’s leadership, showing the pressure to meet high deportation targets.

Kenneth Genalo, who led ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the division responsible for arrests and deportations, retired and became a special government employee advising the agency. At the same time, Robert Hammer, the head of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), was moved to a different position within ICE, according to Politico.

Following these departures, Marcos Charles and Derek Gordon, both longtime ICE officials, were chosen to replace Genalo and Hammer. ICE described these moves as a “leadership realignment” meant to speed up operations and help meet the istration’s goal of arresting and deporting undocumented immigrants considered criminals, per CBS.

The White House keeps demanding more arrests from ICE 5t55g

Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff, said publicly that the istration wants ICE to make at least 3,000 arrests every day, a number much higher than in the past. This aggressive stance has drawn criticism, especially following the illegal deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, which Miller defended.

This target, also ed by White House “border czar” Tom Homan, would mean a massive increase in immigration enforcement. Homan itted he wants to “greatly increase” arrests, saying the current numbers are not enough even though they are already higher than under the previous istration.

This aggressive strategy has caused serious concerns in Congress, especially about how ICE is spending money. While many Republican lawmakers more spending on border security, they are worried the istration might be breaking the Antideficiency Act. This law stops federal agencies from spending money before Congress approves it.

Rep. Mark Amodei, who leads the House subcommittee in charge of funding for the Department of Homeland Security, said he is concerned about not getting enough information on ICE’s spending, making it hard for Congress to check if the law is being followed. This is the future the MAGA crowd signed up for, and it’s expensive.

Other Republican budget officials, like Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, said it has been difficult to get up-to-date details because policies are changing so quickly. Democratic lawmakers have been more openly critical. They accuse the istration of spending more money than it has and possibly running out of funds before the fiscal year ends. Sen. Chris Murphy described the situation as the istration spending “more than it can afford.”

The White House, however, is standing firm. It argues that the extra spending is needed to meet its immigration enforcement goals and secure the border. The istration says the additional funding it asked for in a proposed “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” would make these efforts permanent. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson repeated the president’s commitment to securing the border and deporting undocumented immigrants, saying that “all of the tremendous success” so far could be locked in if the bill es.

Additionally, the istration has reportedly told some agencies to start planning their 2025 spending based on the 2026 budget request, suggesting it might try to by normal budget rules. This approach could lead to a major clash with Republican budget officials who oversee federal spending. Rep. David Joyce pointed out the potential issue if the istration is moving money between programs before Congress approves the full budget.

Crime pays under Trump.]]>

Antoine Massey, one of two inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail on May 16, took to social media over the weekend with an unusual appeal directed at President Donald Trump. The escape suspect’s public outreach, while potentially increasing his chances of capture, highlights how Trump has become increasingly associated with advocating for individuals facing criminal charges.

According to MSNBC, the authenticity of Massey’s social media appearance was confirmed by both his mother and pastor, showing the bold nature of his public communication while being sought by authorities. Despite his history of multiple jail breaks and reportedly removing ankle monitors on two occasions, Massey chose to address the public and the president directly.

“They say that I broke out,” Massey declared in his social media video. “I didn’t break out. I was let out.” This unusual appeal to a sitting president would typically be dismissed as unrealistic, but Trump’s track record of pardons and for various accused individuals has created a new precedent.

Trump’s growing history of controversial pardons shows a pattern of selective mercy y3m4d

The president’s approach to criminal justice has been marked by high-profile pardons and expressions of for various defendants. These range from January 6 insurrectionists to individuals convicted of serious state crimes. Trump, himself facing criminal charges, has shown particular interest in cases that have garnered public attention or involved individuals with connections to his circle.

Recent examples include Trump’s pardons of Paul Walzak, a Florida nursing home executive who pleaded guilty to tax crimes, and Trevor Milton, an electric vehicle startup founder convicted of securities fraud. Notably, Walzak’s pardon came after his mother attended a $1 million-per-person fundraising dinner at Mar-a-Lago, while Milton and his wife had contributed $2 million to Trump’s re-election campaign.

The president’s pardons have not been limited to white-collar crimes. He has also extended clemency to figures like rapper NBA Youngboy, who was serving time for federal gun charges, and Larry Hoover, a Gangster Disciples leader whose federal life sentence was eliminated while his state murder conviction remains intact.

This pattern of presidential intervention has created a stark contrast in the justice system. While individuals with means or connections can potentially access presidential mercy, others face severe consequences for relatively minor involvement in criminal cases. In New Orleans, for instance, several women face high bonds for allegedly assisting jail escapees, including a nearly 60-year-old grandmother who was jailed for a week over a $50 transfer to her fugitive grandson.

A broke clock is right twice a day.]]>

Marjorie Taylor Greene just took to Twitter to share that she did not know what the bill she just voted for says about the regulation of AI.

The often under-discussed aspect of Trump’s “one big beautiful bill” is that it’s 1,000 pages. That’s a massive undertaking — that’s as long as at least two Harry Potter books — and there’s always been the question of who actually read it. And were the people who drafted it counting on that? Well, whether they were or not, Marjorie Taylor Greene just offered herself as tribute and itted she never actually read the whole thing.

Greene has been making her usual media rounds, proudly sharing how she thinks it’s an honor to have played a part in voting for Trump’s enormous bill. There were already conversations about how the bill affects the national deficit and Medicaid, but somehow none of that raised any concerns for Greene. That is, until she stumbled on some controversial language about artificial intelligence that gave her pause.

The recent GOP election wins were always going to mean major tax reliefs. However, what most people didn’t expect was just how many other tangentially related clauses would be stuffed into the bill. Everywhere you look, someone finds a new reason to be displeased. Even Elon Musk has called out the GOP for having no shame in voting the bill through the House.

But the specific clause on pages 278–279 prevents states from making or enforcing any rules concerning AI for 10 years. That’s a lifetime in tech — especially for something evolving as fast as AI. Rep. Greene finally read the bill and itted she didn’t specifically know about the AI clause. Now, she wants that part removed.

The Georgia representative said in part on X, “Full transparency, I did not know about this section on pages 278–279 of the OBBB that strips states of the right to make laws or regulate AI for 10 years. I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of states’ rights, and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there.”

Representative Eric Swalwell quipped back with wrath, saying, “You have one job,” even using expletives to demand his colleague read the bill. Rep. Greene has since said that when the Senate brings the bill back for a second round of House voting with amended clauses, she won’t vote for it if the AI regulation — or rather, non-regulation — is still there.

Demanding that AI get no regulation definitely sounds like something written by one of the billionaires Trump tethered around to Saudi Arabia. As they say about broken clocks, Rep. Greene is 100% right on this one. There’s just nobody who can say with full certainty what AI will be like next year, much less 10 years from now.

Every other developing industry gets government oversight. Something with this much power cannot be allowed to operate without the checks and balances that every other titan industry has to go through. AI could vastly improve our lives. But in the wrong hands, things might be very different.

‘America’s SS’ 2l3wc Trump demands Secret Service agents sign up to ICE ‘mass removal campaign’ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/politics/americas-ss-trump-demands-secret-service-agents--to-ice-mass-removal-campaign/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/politics/americas-ss-trump-demands-secret-service-agents--to-ice-mass-removal-campaign/#respond <![CDATA[David James]]> Wed, 04 Jun 2025 12:42:04 +0000 <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Politics]]> <![CDATA[Donald Trump]]> <![CDATA[Secret Service]]> https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1854869 <![CDATA[
Trump's new immigrant hunter force.]]>
<![CDATA[

The Secret Service plays a crucial role in law enforcement. They guard the lives of the President, Vice President, their families, and many other high-profile designated individuals and are also trusted with the security of critical locations like the White House, and ensure public events like inaugurations without incident.

Their lesser-known duties include battling counterfeiting of currency, investigating financial crimes and tackling cybercrime threats through Electronic Crimes Task Forces. But now Trump is ordering Secret Service agents to line up alongside ICE to help “fully implement the President’s mass removal scheme”.

That’s as per a budget report on the service, which casually mentions their expanded duties at the bottom of the overview:

Notably, the Secret Service is part of the Department of Homeland Security, currently led by Kristi “puppy slayer” Noem. She also controls ICE, border protection, and the TSA, all of which have been pressed into service in Trump’s anti-immigrant crusade, so perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that the SS will their goon squad.

But, as many have pointed out, expanding the Secret Service’s role to include hunting down and disposing of immigrants risks spreading them too thinly and diluting their mission, transforming them into just another gang of Trump thugs. It’s unknown what new Secret Service director Sean Curran makes of this, as he’s only recently been parachuted into the role after being promoted from Trump’s protective security detail after he shielded him at the 2024 Butler assassination attempt.

Immigrant hunters 463z1a

This transformation of the Secret Service into immigrant hunters is just one of the many ways Trump is perverting various parts of the United States government. Teachers and school staff have been under pressure from ICE to facilitate raids on their schools, doctors and nurses have been told to serve up patients ICE wants to deport, and every other law enforcement body is on high alert for anyone they even suspect might be in the country illegally.

Some of you may be cheering this on, but consider this. There are only so many people in the country illegally, and, if these current tactics continue, their numbers will be falling fast. What do you think is going to happen to the huge anti-immigrant state apparatus when there’s no more immigrants to prey on? Somehow, I doubt they’re going to wrap it up and shrink the budget, they’ll just find new targets. And, maybe, one day that’s going to be you.
