Yesterday Kathryn Hahn scored a well-deserved Emmy nomination for Hulu’s Tiny Beautiful Things. Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which will see her reprise her show-stopping WandaVision performance as Agatha Harkness.
Unlike some of her castmates, Hahn is keeping her lips sealed on what surprises Coven of Chaos has in store for us, but wasn’t shy about expressing her happiness to be back in the MCU:
“I love [Agatha] so much. I mean, she’s a witch, so what could be more delicious? And especially on the heels of this very profound and deep dive [in Tiny Beautiful Things] to be able to jump into something that was surprisingly a deep, a deep and profound dive as well was really an exciting, really difficult, but incredible year.”
Coven of Chaos began filming in January 2023 and, as the scripts were already completed, wasn’t affected by the writer’s strike. Principal photography wrapped in late May, though Marvel Studios are planning some reshoots once the strike is over.
All this means Coven of Chaos‘ release date is difficult to pin down. At one point it was planned for a late 2023 release (possibly around Halloween), though it’s now been pushed back to mid-2024. If the reshoots cannot go ahead due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that release date may get pushed back further still. Hahn herself seems to be as in the dark as we are, saying:
“I have no idea. I’m just an eager, eager audience member waiting to see.”
Fingers firmly crossed that the added pressure of the actor’s strike brings studios to the table with a reasonable offer, as we’re itching for more toe-tapping songs and the return of Hahn’s delightfully devilish antihero.
