A startling incident in Pennsylvania has underscored the importance of patient identification protocols at hospitals, as Rae Corrado says she experienced a case of hospital patient mix-up at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. Expecting to find her mother, Gloria Corrado, in her assigned hospital bed, Rae was instead met with a stranger wearing her mother’s identification wristband. 1u6f61

“I don’t care what it says. It’s not my mom” 6y2z4b

According to Pittsburgh news outlet WTAE, Rae had been awaiting her 72-year-old mother’s transfer from UPMC Presbyterian to UPMC Mercy for rehabilitation following a stroke. Upon arrival at Mercy, Rae was directed to her mother’s room, only to find an unfamiliar woman occupying the bed.

Despite the wristband indicating the patient’s name as Gloria Corrado, Rae was adamant that the woman was not her mother. The staff initially insisted on the identification’s accuracy, leading to a tense exchange. “I said, ‘I don’t care what it says. It’s not my mom,” Rae told the staff.

The search for Gloria 412u2o

Confused and alarmed, Rae ed staff at UPMC Presbyterian, who confirmed that her mother was still there, awaiting transfer. Gloria had been left in a hallway, strapped to a stretcher, unable to move for hours.

Gloria described the experience as harrowing, stating, “I was velcroed to a stretcher. I couldn’t move. I could hardly move my feet, let alone my body, for hours. And I kept thinking, ‘This can’t be legal,'” she said.

Gloria finally arrived at UPMC Mercy around 11 p.m., where she was reunited with her daughter. The emotional toll of the ordeal was evident.

Hospital response and Ongoing Investigation 242f11

UPMC has acknowledged the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine how it occurred. A representative mentioned that a new nurse was involved, suggesting that inexperience may have played a role.

Rae has expressed her dissatisfaction with the hospital’s response and is considering legal action. She emphasized the need for ability, not only for her mother’s ordeal but also for the unidentified woman who was mistakenly placed in Gloria’s bed.

This incident highlights the potential dangers of hospital patient mix-ups, especially involving elderly patients who may be vulnerable due to conditions like dementia. Proper patient identification is crucial to ensure safety and trust in healthcare settings.

Medical experts note that while such errors are rare, they can have serious consequences. Hospitals are urged to review and reinforce their patient identification protocols to prevent similar incidents.

Well-established legal precedent.]]>
<![CDATA[

Republican U.S. Representative Nancy Mace from South Carolina has sparked controversy with her recent social media post claiming that “Due process is for citizens,” suggesting that constitutional protections are limited to American citizens only.

The statement, which appeared to be part of a series of provocative social media posts, has been contradicted by established legal precedents and recent Supreme Court decisions that affirm due process rights extend beyond citizenship status.

According to MSNBC, the Republican-majority Supreme Court has recently reinforced this principle, citing previous precedent that states, “It is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in the context of removal proceedings.” This direct contradiction to Mace’s claim highlights the broader scope of constitutional protections.

The Trump istration’s ongoing misinterpretation of due process rights raises concerns 4g1th

This isn’t the first time that misinterpretations of due process rights have emerged from conservative political figures. Previously, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller made similar suggestions about constitutional protections being limited to citizens, demonstrating a pattern of misunderstanding within certain political circles.

The constitutional amendments that guarantee due process rights specifically use the term “person[s]” rather than “citizens,” intentionally encoming a broader category of individuals. This distinction is crucial in understanding the scope of constitutional protections in the United States.

Legal experts point out that while citizens are indeed entitled to due process, these protections are not exclusively reserved for citizens. The Constitution’s careful wording ensures these fundamental rights extend to all persons within U.S. jurisdiction.

The ongoing debate over due process rights reflects a larger discussion about constitutional interpretations and their application to non-citizens. Despite claims to the contrary, both historical precedent and current judicial understanding maintain that basic constitutional protections, including due process, apply to all persons regardless of their citizenship status.

Unfortunately, my parents took my money.]]>
<![CDATA[

Reality TV star Ariana Biermann, daughter of Kim Zolciak and stepdaughter of Kroy Biermann, has revealed that her parents spent all of her earnings from her television and social media career. The 23-year-old made these claims during the Tuesday premiere of her new Bravo reality series, “Next Gen NYC.”

According to Page Six, Ariana, who has been in the public eye since she was five years old, built a substantial income through reality television appearances and social media brand deals. She started securing brand partnerships at the age of 14 and was earning significant amounts through Instagram posts and stories.

“I was doing like three posts a week, and you get paid astronomically to do a story or to do an Instagram post, and I made quite a bit of money. But, unfortunately, my parents took my money,” Ariana revealed during her confessional. She discovered the loss of her earnings two years ago, but remains unclear about the exact amount and how it was spent.

Financial struggles continue to impact family relationships 4n6q6x

The financial situation has created tension in Ariana’s personal life, particularly with her boyfriend, Hudson McLeroy. She itted to sometimes hiding from Hudson when her mother calls asking for money, acknowledging the difficult circumstances of her mother going through a divorce while living with four children.

This revelation comes amid Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s ongoing contentious divorce, which has been marked by serious financial difficulties. Kroy has accused the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star of having a gambling problem that has “financially devastated” their family.

According to allegations made by Kroy, Zolciak spent more than $600,000 on luxury items from high-end retailers including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Chanel between 2016 and 2023. The extent of their financial troubles became more apparent when they were forced to sell their Georgia mansion.

The couple finally managed to sell their home after it spent a year and a half on the market, but they had to accept $3 million less than their original asking price. The property had been facing foreclosure before the sale was completed. Despite these challenges, Ariana expressed her desire to maintain family relationships, stating, “I get it and I never want money to destroy the relationship with my family.”

‘Fire them’ 63u4c Laura Loomer’s White House influence hits new peak as conspiracy theorist gets private JD Vance meeting https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/fire-them-laura-loomers-white-house-influence-hits-new-peak-as-conspiracy-theorist-gets-private-jd-vance-meeting/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/fire-them-laura-loomers-white-house-influence-hits-new-peak-as-conspiracy-theorist-gets-private-jd-vance-meeting/#respond <![CDATA[Sadik Hossain]]> Wed, 04 Jun 2025 19:52:00 +0000 <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Politics]]> <![CDATA[Laura Loomer]]> https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1854968 <![CDATA[
Conspiracy theorist gets unprecedented access.]]>
<![CDATA[

Laura Loomer, a right-wing activist and self-described “pro-white nationalism” er, continues to gain unprecedented access to high-level White House meetings, most recently sitting down with Vice President JD Vance in a private discussion at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The meeting, first reported by CNN and later confirmed by NBC News through two sources familiar with the matter, was acknowledged by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing, though specific details of the discussion were not disclosed.

According to MSNBC, in early April, Loomer’s influence became particularly evident during a dramatic Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump. Sitting across from the president with a stack of papers, she presented accusations about “disloyal” National Security Council . “Fire them,” Trump instructed then-national security adviser Michael Waltz, who had arrived late to witness Loomer criticizing his staff.

Growing influence raises concerns about fringe elements in mainstream politics 412o1i

Loomer, a failed Republican congressional candidate, has established herself as a controversial figure in political circles, known for promoting conspiracy theories, including claims that deadly school shootings were staged and that the September 11 attacks were “an inside job.”

Her recent track record of influence includes reportedly playing a role in derailing Dr. Janette Nesheiwat’s surgeon general nomination and contributing to Michael Waltz’s removal from his national security adviser position. She was also allegedly involved in the dismissal of a U.S. attorney in California.

The situation marks a significant departure from Trump’s first term, when White House officials actively worked to keep fringe voices away from the president. According to The New York Times, these officials spent considerable time “blocking off people they described as ‘the crazies.'” The current istration appears to have taken a different approach to such gatekeeping.

Most notably, Loomer’s involvement in the April shake-up of the National Security Council and the National Security Agency’s leadership showcases her growing influence. The president’s decision to remove several of these crucial security bodies came directly after his meeting with Loomer, who later claimed credit for these personnel changes.

The continued access granted to Loomer represents a significant shift in White House operations, effectively blurring the traditional boundaries between mainstream political discourse and fringe elements. This development has drawn attention from political observers who note that while both major political parties have their extreme elements, only one is currently offering such direct access and influence to figures previously considered outside the mainstream.

One Big Beautiful Disaster]]>
<![CDATA[

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has released a revised analysis of the House Republicans‘ domestic policy package, revealing more concerning implications than initially projected. The new analysis comes nearly two weeks after the bill narrowly ed the lower chamber before Memorial Day weekend.

According to MSNBC, the Republican-led legislation, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” underwent multiple revisions during late-night sessions in response to private backroom negotiations. These continuous changes made it challenging for the CBO to provide accurate initial assessments of the bill’s impact.

The non-partisan budget office’s updated analysis shows the bill would add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, an increase from the previous estimate of $2.3 trillion. Additionally, approximately 10.9 million Americans would lose their healthcare coverage due to Medicaid cuts and changes to the Affordable Care Act, suring earlier projections.

Republican lawmakers pushed forward without a CBO analysis despite the implications 165k1v

In a move reminiscent of their 2017 approach to tax legislation, Republican officials proceeded with the vote without waiting for a comprehensive CBO analysis of their reconciliation package. This decision reflects a deliberate choice to advance the legislation without a full understanding of its financial and practical implications.

Congressional Democrats, however, requested the CBO to examine the House Republicans’ proposal in detail. The resulting analysis revealed no positive outcomes for GOP officials, particularly regarding the bill’s impact on healthcare coverage and national debt.

The legislation specifically targets resources for lower-income Americans, with the CBO highlighting significant reductions in for the nation’s poorest populations. These cuts, combined with modifications to the Affordable Care Act, would result in substantial healthcare coverage losses.

The bill now faces consideration in the Republican-controlled Senate, where significant modifications are expected. The latest CBO findings may influence Senate deliberations, as lawmakers grapple with the broader implications of the proposed legislation for both national debt and healthcare accessibility.

4 2lj5o year-old Mexican girl with rare illness granted humanitarian parole after deportation threat https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/4-year-old-mexican-girl-with-rare-illness-granted-humanitarian-parole-after-deportation-threat/ https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/news/4-year-old-mexican-girl-with-rare-illness-granted-humanitarian-parole-after-deportation-threat/#respond <![CDATA[Jorge Aguilar]]> Wed, 04 Jun 2025 19:23:00 +0000 <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Politics]]> <![CDATA[Mexico]]> https://wegotthiscovered.isosite.org/?p=1854884 <![CDATA[
A little girl isn't going to be sent to her death.]]>
<![CDATA[

A four-year-old Mexican girl with short bowel syndrome, a dangerous condition that makes it hard for her body to absorb nutrients, has been given permission to stay in the United States for medical treatment she cannot get in Mexico. This decision came after a time of great worry and public attention when the family was suddenly told they had to leave the country.

The girl, referred to only by her initials S.G.V., and her mother, Deysi Vargas, came to the United States in July 2023 using the CBP One app. They were allowed to stay temporarily under humanitarian parole, which allowed them to live in the U.S. legally for a limited time. S.G.V. needs daily nutrients delivered through an IV, carried in a special backpack, to stay alive. This treatment is not available in Mexico, where her poor health had kept her mostly in a hospital before coming to the U.S. per AP News.

In April 2025, the family got a notice from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) saying their parole and work permission were canceled. The notice ordered them to leave the U.S. right away and warned that they could face legal trouble if they did not, according to NBC. This sudden decision put the girl’s life at risk because she relies on medical care that only exists in the United States. The family’s lawyers at Public Counsel quickly spoke out, saying deportation could be deadly for the child.

Mexican child allowed to stay in US for health reasons 6a873

The cancellation of the family’s parole happened around the same time as a change in political leadership. The new istration had been working to undo policies from the past istration that allowed some migrants to stay in the U.S. temporarily. This policy shift made it much harder for the family to remain legally.

After getting the DHS notice, the family held a press conference to explain how deportation would threaten the child’s life. The case gained a lot of public attention, leading to protests and pressure on officials. At first, DHS said the family was not being actively deported and that an earlier application was still being reviewed, but the girl’s urgent medical needs remained the biggest concern.

The family’s lawyers said the parole was taken away without any warning, unlike in the past when such issues could be fixed with simpler steps. They pointed out flaws in the immigration system, saying it took a huge public and political effort to reverse the deportation order, unless a judge stepped in. The case shows how important it is for the federal immigration system to communicate better and be more transparent.

After weeks of fear and uncertainty, DHS gave S.G.V. and her mother a one-year extension of humanitarian parole on June 3, 2025. This lets the girl keep getting her lifesaving treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she has gotten much healthier since arriving in the U.S.

Before, she was stuck in a Mexican hospital, but now she can do normal things like other kids. While she may not need this intense medical care forever, she still depends on it to survive right now. Even though the immediate danger is over, the family’s long-term future in the U.S. is still unclear after the one-year parole ends.

Dakota Johnson finally speaks on her flop.]]>
<![CDATA[

Dakota Johnson’s starring role in Sony’s Madame Web has resulted in a major critical and commercial failure, potentially disrupting Sony’s plans for a Spider-Man universe spin-off series. The movie, which was meant to kick off a new line of superhero films, instead became the latest in a series of poorly performing superhero releases, leaving Sony executives reportedly discouraged.

As found by The Guardian, in an interview with Bustle, Johnson herself said she is not surprised by the film’s negative reception and suggested she is unlikely to take on a similar project in the future. Madame Web, a superhero movie intended to expand the Spider-Man universe, earned a harsh 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a clear sign of its overwhelmingly bad reviews.

Critics heavily criticized the film, with some calling it one of the worst comic book adaptations ever made. This harsh judgment matches its disappointing box office results. Despite an estimated production budget of $80 million, Madame Web only made $91 million worldwide, a major loss for the studio and a clear sign that audiences were not interested.

Even Dakota Johnson can see the issues with Madame Web 6f203e

This weak performance has reportedly left Sony executives feeling doubtful about the future of their planned spin-off series. The studio had high expectations for Madame Web as a key project, but its failure has damaged their broader goals for the Spider-Man universe. The poor reception has raised serious doubts about whether future spin-off projects can succeed, leaving the studio’s immediate expansion plans unclear.

Johnson said, “I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now. But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what? But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.”

Johnson’s comments reflect the widespread disappointment surrounding the film. She acknowledged the negative reaction and said she understood the criticism, implying that the final version of the movie was very different from what she initially thought it would be. This raises concerns about how the film was made and the possible gap between the original vision and the end result.

She made it clear that she “probably will never do anything like it again,” but its hard to fault her when even Russell Crowe took shots at her. This reaction makes sense given the film’s poor performance and extremely negative reviews, and it highlights the risks and unpredictability of big-budget superhero movies.

The failure of Madame Web is also part of a larger trend affecting the superhero genre. Recent movies like Shazam 2, The Marvels, and The Flash have also faced bad reviews and weak box office numbers. However, there was a lot of controversy surrounding them. There’s even doubt that Tom Holland could return, so it’s not looking good for Sony.

Prince William seemingly addressed his relationship with his brother with soldiers at an air force base.]]>
<![CDATA[

Prince William made a few unexpected jokes alluding to the relationship between him and his brother, Prince Harry, this week during a visit to the Army Air Corps (AAC).

Up until now William has remained relatively tight-lipped about his brother and the rift that has grown between them. In fact, palace sources have claimed that the future King doesn’t even like Harry’s name being mentioned around him. William likely won’t ever directly address the ongoing situation. But apparently he will make jokes about it.

William talks about seeing loved ones 3c6a15

While talking to soldiers as their Colonel-In-Chief the Prince asked the pace of life at the base in Wattisham, Suffolk. According to an article from the Telegraph, it was then he asked about how often they saw loved ones quipping, “some of them might not want to see you that much.” He told the soldiers “it’s a mixed bag.”

A mixed bag indeed, William would know all about this. His seems like a rather discreet acknowledgment of the relationship between William and Harry. The two brothers have hardly spoken to each other since the Duke of Sussex decided to step down from his royal duties and move to the U.S. back in 2020. Their relationship has only deteriorated more with every interview and public statement Harry makes about the royal family.

The last time William and Harry were pictured together was in September 2022 in which the brothers seemed to put on a united front for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Since then they have not made much of an effort to keep in .

Reconciliation seems unlikely for the two princes i6d4x

Although Prince Harry recently expressed his desire for reconciliation with his family across the pond in a recent interview, it doesn’t look like William is all that bothered. Royal insiders have claimed that William is unable to forgive his brother for the interviews and memoirs he published in 2023.

However, other insiders have claimed that Kate Middleton is sympathetic towards Harry and wants to see the royal family united once more. Sources reported that she has been speaking with the wayward Prince despite William urging her not to. Could Kate possibly help the brothers somewhat mend the rift that’s opened up between them?

Whether the two princes make up or not, William’s statement at the air force base in Wattisham seems to be the first time he’s even alluded to the feud between him and his brother. Does his joke regarding the matter suggest his stance is softening somewhat? Or was it even an intentional dig in the first place? Either way, it’s unlikely we’ll see William change his opinions about his brother anytime soon.

Taylor Swift's secret battle ends in a stunning victory. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Taylor Swift’s successful purchase of her original recordings from Shamrock Capital has brought waves of happiness to her fans and many others. The huge deal, said to be worth $360 million, ends a long legal fight and is a major personal win for the singer. Her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, happily celebrated the news on a recent episode of his podcast, New Heights.

According to Rolling Stone, Swift’s fight to get back ownership of her music started years ago when her first six albums were sold by her old record label, Big Machine, to Scooter Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings. Swift strongly disagreed with this sale. This led to years of conflict, and Swift decided to re-record her albums as “Taylor’s Version,” which lowered the value of the original recordings.

After Ithaca Holdings sold the music to Shamrock Capital, Swift kept working to regain control. This week’s announcement confirmed she had succeeded. In a heartfelt message to her fans, Swift shared how happy she was, talking about the years of effort it took to reach this moment and how emotional she felt finally achieving her goal. She stressed how much it meant to her personally to own her own work, saying the music represented her memories, effort, and dreams.

The news of Swift’s victory spread far beyond her loyal fans. Travis Kelce showed his by celebrating the news on his podcast with his brother Jason and guest Shaquille O’Neal. Kelce used the moment to share how proud he was of Swift’s achievement, explaining how important the purchase was and saying the music “is finally hers.” The podcast moment perfectly showed the happiness and relief that came with this long-awaited win.

The public between Kelce and Swift shows how strong their relationship is. Since they went public in 2023, the couple has consistently shown their iration and for each other’s careers.

Swift had said, “All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy. This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: My memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams. I am endlessly thankful.”

Swift has often gone to Chiefs games to cheer for Kelce, while Kelce has returned the by attending several shows on Swift’s Eras Tour, even ing her on stage during a concert in London. Swift getting back her original recordings is much more than just a business deal; it’s about taking back her artistic legacy and standing up for an artist’s right to own their work.

The lawsuit, filed in New York, focuses on Simmons’ argument that the documentary ignored strong evidence that disputed the sexual assault claims made against him.

According to TMZ, Simmons claims that On the Record “ignored or hid” statements from more than 20 witnesses who disagreed with the accusations against him. He says this information was available to top executives at WarnerMedia, HBO Max’s parent company, including CEO John Stankey. The lawsuit also states that civil rights leaders and of Congress asked HBO to look at the evidence backing Simmons’ denials, though the filing does not name these individuals.

One well-known person mentioned in the lawsuit is Oprah Winfrey. Simmons says Winfrey was originally an executive producer of On the Record but stepped away from the project after pointing out inconsistencies in the accusations against him, saving her high net worth. This detail suggests there may have been doubts within the production about how the documentary handled the allegations before it was released.

A key part of Simmons’ legal case is his claim that the documentary’s producers ignored nine lie detector test results that he says were done with high-level technology, similar to what the CIA uses and that these tests ed his side of the story. Whether these test results will hold up in court is uncertain, but Simmons argues that leaving them out was a major oversight by the filmmakers.

The timing of Simmons’ move out of the United States is also part of the lawsuit. He moved to Bali, Indonesia, in 2018 after the sexual assault claims came out, and he sold his last U.S. property in 2021. He now lives in Bali, where he runs a high-end yoga retreat.

While this move is not directly tied to his legal claims, it helps explain the emotional distress he says he suffered because of how the documentary portrayed him. True Crime is a popular genre, so he may have wanted to get away before the documentary aired.

The lawsuit includes claims of defamation, based on Simmons’ argument that the documentary falsely and harmfully misrepresented him; emotional distress, due to the damage he says was done to his reputation and personal life; and invasion of privacy, for what he calls the unnecessary sharing of private information. The $20 million he is seeking is meant to compensate for the harm he claims the documentary caused through what he says were inaccuracies and unfair bias.

Finally earning the name.]]>
<![CDATA[

Patrick Schwarzenegger, who recently found breakthrough success with The White Lotus season 3, revealed he once considered changing his famous surname to avoid comparisons with his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor shared these thoughts during Variety’s Actors on Actors 2025 edition, where he sat down with his father to discuss their careers and experiences in Hollywood.

According to Hindustan Times, the younger Schwarzenegger’s journey in the entertainment industry began with minor roles in the 2000s, including appearances in films such as Stuck in Love, Grown Ups 2, and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. His first leading role came in the 2018 film Midnight Sun, followed by a recurring role in Gen V before his career-defining role in The White Lotus.

During the conversation with his father, Patrick revealed that The White Lotus creator Mike White acknowledged that the Schwarzenegger name “comes with baggage.” He explained that having successful parents like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver created additional pressure and scrutiny, with some people suggesting he got roles because of his parents’ influence.

How Arnold Schwarzenegger influenced his son’s career journey 3i1p2j

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s own path to stardom began as a bodybuilder in Europe, leading to multiple Mr Olympia wins in the 1970s. He later transitioned to Hollywood, finding his breakthrough role in The Terminator in 1984, and eventually becoming one of the biggest movie stars of the 1980s and 1990s alongside Tom Cruise and Sylvester Stallone.

The weight of this legacy led Patrick to contemplate using an alias earlier in his career. He itted to struggling with concerns about living in his father’s shadow versus forging his own path in the industry. However, he ultimately decided to keep the Schwarzenegger name.

Arnold expressed happiness about his son’s decision to retain the family name, stating that he could now “take credit” for Patrick’s success. The elder Schwarzenegger also drew parallels to other successful actors with famous parents, specifically mentioning Jamie Lee Curtis, whom he considers one of the greatest actors in history.

The conversation highlighted how Patrick eventually overcame the challenges of his famous surname, with 2025 marking the year he established himself as a name unto himself through his performance in The White Lotus. His success demonstrates that while a famous last name might open doors, it’s ultimately talent and dedication that sustain a career in Hollywood.

DOGE bites democracy.]]>
<![CDATA[

The White House has officially sent Congress a request to eliminate $9.4 billion in current funding for public broadcasting and foreign aid, marking a significant test of Republican for the istration’s agency funding cuts. The request includes $8.3 billion in foreign aid cuts and $1.1 billion from public broadcasting, affecting National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service.

According to Politico, the rescissions memo, delivered Tuesday to Capitol Hill, also targets funding across multiple State Department s, including UN peacekeeping contributions, $900 million in global health programs, and $800 million for migration and refugee assistance. Congress now has 45 days to either approve or reject the istration’s recommendation.

White House budget director Russ Vought has escalated the istration’s stance on funding cuts, stating that “we intend to use all of these tools.” He suggested that the istration might not need congressional approval to block certain funding, citing executive tools and historical presidential abilities to spend below the ceiling.

The Trump istration has indicated it might employ a controversial “pocket rescission” strategy to make DOGE cuts permanent, regardless of congressional approval. This approach would involve sending additional rescission requests near the fiscal year’s end and potentially withholding funds until they expire on September 30.

The move has sparked concern among lawmakers, particularly Democrats. Senate’s top Democratic appropriator, Patty Murray, pointed out that Trump’s rescission request actually acknowledges Congress’s constitutional authority over funding decisions, making the istration’s subsequent threats particularly noteworthy.

While Speaker Mike Johnson has committed to swift action on the package in the House, the request faces uncertainty in the Senate. Despite requiring only a simple majority, similar attempts have failed before, as evidenced by the defeat of Trump’s $15 billion rescission request in 2018.

Republican reactions have been mixed, with some senators like John Cornyn ing more frequent rescission requests, while others express concerns about specific cuts. Senator Mike Rounds has raised questions about the impact on public broadcasting, particularly regarding native American tribes and rural areas that depend on public radio stations and emergency broadcasting systems.
