DC detectives predict the Batman villains James Gunn will swipe from Matt Reeves for ‘The Brave and the Bold’

DC fans debate the most likely antagonists who will make their way from Matt Reeves's 'The Batman' to James Gunn's film.

DCU sleuths are making educated guesses about which supervillains from  James Gunn‘s iteration of the franchise The Brave and The Bold.

A fan took to the r/DC_Cinematic subreddit to share their forecasts about which villains they think will find their way into Gunn’s film. They placed their bets on Clayface, Madhatter, Poison Ivy, and The Ventriloquist, giving a detailed analysis of why they believe each character will feature in The Brave and The Bold.

Gunn’s film The Brave and The Bold will introduce the character Damian Wayne, the progeny of Bruce Wayne (Batman) and Talia Al Ghul, to the cinematic universe of the franchise. Damian first appeared in DC comics in 1987 and was not seen again until 2006. The film will focus on Batman’s efforts to rehabilitate his son from the toxic influence of his mother, grandfather, and the League of Assasins.

A Redditor challenged OP’s picks, pointing out that any adversarial figure will have to elevate the paternal aspects of the film’s narrative. They suggested that the villain will represent the lessons Batman seeks to impart to his child about vice, personal relationships, and ethical quandaries.

Another fan suggested that, based on Damian’s origin and experiences, the most likely villains in the film are more likely to be lifted from the Nolanverse. They believe they will be Damian’s grandfather, Ra’s Al Ghul, and his mother, Talia.

Most fans agreed that the antagonist(s) would probably have a connection to Damian. However, one Redditor doesn’t believe that younger Wayne and his father will face off against his mother and grandfather. They think it’s more likely that the pair will battle Deacon Fire, Azrael and the Order of St. Dumas, or The Court and Their Talons.

Whoever the villain turns out to be, The Brave and The Bold promises to serve as an important reminder that there is always a way back to living a life of purpose, no matter how far down a destructive path a person wanders.

The release of The Brave and The Bold will take place in release in late 2025
