Swift strongly disagreed with this sale. This led to years of conflict, and Swift decided to re-record her albums as “Taylor’s Version,” which lowered the value of the original recordings.

After Ithaca Holdings sold the music to Shamrock Capital, Swift kept working to regain control. This week’s announcement confirmed she had succeeded. In a heartfelt message to her fans, Swift shared how happy she was, talking about the years of effort it took to reach this moment and how emotional she felt finally achieving her goal. She stressed how much it meant to her personally to own her own work, saying the music represented her memories, effort, and dreams.
