‘An apology would be nice for making my wife cry’: MAGA devotee humiliated as Trump merch gift goes horribly wrong

Who would have thought that Trump merch would be cheap trash?

If you have some useless rubbish to offload, a great tip is to put “Trump” on it, and market it to MAGA. Those dopes will buy anything if it’s even vaguely endorsed by Donald Trump regardless of quality. Now, one Rhode Island couple has learned this lesson the hard way, as a tacky, overpriced watch has left a woman in tears.

The watch, sold on GetTrumpWatches.com, was marketed as a limited edition with only 250 available. Ads see Trump himself hawking this stuff:

Middletown resident Tim Petit saw the ad and thought he’d found the perfect gift for his wife. As reported by WJAR, he said: “I just thought it was really nice. It was beautiful. And I knew it would be something that she’d like.”

Moments later, he was $640 poorer, having ordered the pink inauguration First Lady model, which came presented in a pink case with fireworks on it. But when it was opened, his wife’s birthday joy turned to tears, as the watch was missing one critical letter. Rather than the watch face proudly sporting “TRUMP”, it instead said, simply “RUMP”.

Melanie Petit was left horrified: “I noticed it right away. The T is missing. It just says R-U-M-P. The watch face should have the word “Trump” on it. Instead, it reads “Rump.” She says she was left shocked that Donald Trump merch might be of substandard quality: “How could they process this and go through something without checking their work?”

Tim Petit blames this for ruining his birthday and is demanding an apology: “I’m very disappointed. I wanted to do a special thing for her. And we expected that it would have the integrity of the President of the United States and good follow-through. … We would like this corrected properly and quickly. An apology would be nice for making my wife cry.” Tim, buddy, if you’re looking for “integrity” you may be barking up the wrong tree with this president.

A peek at the small print indicates (unsurprisingly) that Donald Trump has little to nothing to do with this watch, pointing out that “the watches are not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their respective s or principals.”

Technically, there’s a happy ending to this story, as after media attention the company finally responded with an apology, offered to replace the watch, apologized, and offered an $800 coupon. If there’s a lesson here, it’s that Donald Trump merchandise is overpriced trash marketed to gullible idiots. If you’re foolish enough to part with hundreds of dollars for stuff like this, don’t be surprised when what arrives is far from what was promised.
