Dolph Lundgren Eyeing Up A Role In He-Man Reboot

The last time He-Man graced the big screen was in the form of Dolph Lundgren in 1987’s Masters of the Universe, in which he teamed up with Monica from Friends and a small hairy guy to fight a very pasty Frank Langella. Unfortunately, the film was a box office flop but it has since developed a cult following for its camp fun.

Now, a reboot is in the pipeline to be directed by G:I Joe Retaliation‘s Jon M. Chu and the initial wielder of the powers of Grayskull, Dolph Lundgren, is keen to be involved.

Talking to IGN Lundgren said:

“Yeah. I think it’s a good idea. I think He-Man is a cool character, and I had fun doing [the movie]. I wouldn’t want to take my shirt off again for three months, wearing that… diaper or whatever it was I was wearing, loincloth. I’d rather play the king. But yeah, good idea. All of these old superheroes are coming back, and I’m sure that’s one that people could enjoy.”

At 54, it is unlikely Lundgren will be in line for the titular character, but it would certainly be fun to see him pop up in a cameo role. Plus, his role in The Expendables films shows that there’s still some action clout left in him.

With Lundgren presumably out of the running, who do you think would make a good He-Man? Tell us in the comments below.
