Even after King Charles gave his charged, fiery speech in Canada, dissing Prince William.
After Charles’ cancer diagnosis, it became a fact that, unlike his father, he would be ascending the throne much sooner. But Trump might find that the warmth and willingness to momentarily turn a blind eye to his glaringly obvious vices will not be the usual treatment he gets when William is around. After all, the future king has made it beyond clear that letting go of grudges is not his style. Ask Prince Harry.
Anyway, Trump has already done the unthinkable, and even if William wasn’t a royal, forgiving his sleazy attitude towards Kate Middleton would have been impossible. Yes, you read that right.
Back in 2011, soon after William and Kate got married, the newlyweds were in Provence, , living their holidays in a chateau. While they were used to a breach of their privacy given their status, it reached outrageous levels when a paparazzi member used a long-lens photograph of the future queen sunbathing on the balcony, topless.
As ed by Royal biographer, Rob Jobson, in his book (Catherine, the Princess of Wales), the drama escalated to the point that the palace representatives had to intervene to stop the photographs from getting out. But all it managed to do was get those involved fined as the pictures were still widely spread and attracted all levels of snide comments from trolls. One such “troll” was America’s current president.
Though William never directly addressed Trump’s derogatory remarks, he was “furious,” as per Jobson.
Trump’s comments, combined with the public spectacle, left Kate feeling “violated” – it was only right that William would feel enraged about the whole issue where men like Trump ed degrading comments on his wife. The president doesn’t have a filter now, even as the leader of a country, imagine him back then, as the host and executive producer of NBC’s The Apprentice
Given how William has been stubbornly holding on to his grudge with Prince Harry, it is clear that he is not the “forgive and forget type.” But he is no civilian – he will be the monarch of Britain and other nations in the future. So, is he going to do what Charles does and put on a plastic smile as king to greet the man who insulted and shamed his wife?
