‘I just did that show for a really long time’: Peter Dinklage explains why he hasn’t seen ‘House of the Dragon’

He's on a break.

No one is more familiar with the nitty-gritty of the world of Game of Thrones than Peter Dinklage. After all, we saw his character Tyrion Lannister sharing some of his most shrewd political knowledge with both his malicious clan and later the ambitious Daenerys Targaryen, before she decided to go on a rampage spree.

After eight years of serving the evil queens, Dinklage decided to dissociate himself from the brutal world of Westeros when he told Entertainment Weekly about his decision to take some time off from watching House of the Dragon.

He confirmed not harboring any personal dislike towards the prequel series but rather ignoring an instant binge-watch, citing his need for a “dragon-break.”

“I haven’t seen it yet. I just did that show for a really long time. And I watched some other stuff. [But] I intend to, definitely. I heard it’s really good.”

House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022 and narrates the story of the Targaryen dynasty around 174 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It was an instant hit among the show’s fans, and many have considered the storyline even better than the original in of political intricacies and plotlines.

Dinklage’s iconic portrayal as the exceptionally clever-yet-humiliated Lannister offspring earned him four Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award, making him one of the top performers in the history of modern television.

Following the series, Dinklage landed several well-known roles adding impressive filmography to his list like I Care a Lot and Cyrano, to name just two. Today, he is the voice behind Scourge, the primary antagonist of another popular franchise, Transformer: Rise of the Beasts.
