The Brotherhood Needs Saving In Assassin’s Creed: Unity Story Trailer

Up until now, Ubisoft has really only demonstrated how Assassin's Creed: Unity will be different from every other game in the franchise. Basically, it's just another year in the history of Assassin's Creed, although to be fair, last year's Black Flag was fairly refreshing thanks to the pirate themed gameplay that felt like Grand Theft Auto with ships. So in all honesty, maybe Unity and its co-operative stealth based missions will reinvigorate the fun of the franchise once again.

Up until now, Ubisoft has really only demonstrated how Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be different from every other game in the franchise. Basically, it’s just another year in the history of Assassin’s Creed, although to be fair, last year’s Black Flag was fairly refreshing thanks to the pirate themed gameplay that felt like Grand Theft Auto with ships. So in all honesty, maybe Unity and its co-operative stealth based missions will reinvigorate the fun of the franchise once again.

The only underlying concern is that I couldn’t tell you a damn thing about the story, other than that it takes place during the French Revolution. Thankfully, Ubisoft is now beginning to promote the narrative as the release date draws near. And that’s a good thing, too, because traditionally, the new layer of rewritten history is a huge selling point for Assassin’s Creed.

As usual, the story looks very interesting and seems to have everything you would expect from an iteration of the series; a protagonist who’s father was an assassin, a city oppressed and ready to rebel, loud orchestral music to increase drama and add intensity, and lots of ass-kicking and swan diving. Nothing from the modern day plot-line is shown, but that part is usually kept under wraps until the game is made available. The French Revolution arc does look very promising though.

Check out the official synopsis below:

Paris, 1793, one Assassin rose amongst the violence of the French Revolution: Arno Dorian. While trust and justice were no longer making sense, Arno’s path for redemption will bring him to play a key role in the ancestral conflict between Templars and Assassins. Avenging his father’s death, his personal quest will soon be linked with History as he will encounter the most famous historical figures of this period.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be released for current generation consoles on November 12th, with the PlayStations 4 version containing an additional 30 minutes of exclusive side content.
